I have a question I hope you could answer. Why has GM stepped away from 373 tow package? I want to order one in grey but it hasn’t gave me the option to buy one. I found 1 black high country in stock 373. I don’t want black though, However I don’t want to lose out on this package. Do you think it’ll come back? Why did they take it away? Should I just take the black and suck it up or wait for it to hopefully return
Is GM thinking about dropping the 3.0L diesel in 2024?
Thanks Tim, Hello Russ. Please do tell us more about this pedal thing u have. And you cheated, you installed the bug deflector on the hood to make the truck cut thru the wind. Hence, higher fuel mileage. 🤣😂🤣😂
Hey Tim which weathertech deflector did you get? I see they have two on there site. Great vids as always, love my 23 duramax.
That diesel would be a good mileage machine. Jack rabbit starts and high speed definitely affects fuel efficiency. Hills/Mountains and curvy roads also substantial affects efficiency.
I have a 2015 silverado 1500 with the lousy 6 speed transmission and the 5.3L, I average around 14 mpg or 16L/100 km, it’s paid for … but the transmissions are expensive to fix out of warranty, and they do go frequently unfortunately… the front and rear diffs aren’t the strongest either, I’d love to see the new 1500 come with a stronger transmission and stronger diffs and a better locker… impressive numbers this diesel is getting, I have heard that this motor isn’t very good… anyone else hear this?
I think the real question everyone has is…How did you golf?
I got over 30 mpg one time in my V6 2018 RAM 1500 crew cab from Nashville to Chattanooga. But I never did over 65mph. Normal driving the interstate I get about 24mpg.
Tim, facts about a 800 mile 8000 lb.
tow trip, 2023 Chevrolet Silverado, LT LZ0 , 3.0 diesel. Trail Boss, crew cab.
600 miles of rolling hills and mountains 200 miles of Highwinds and storming weather.
4 gallons of DEF.
A half a quart of oil . 13 mpg!
Thats kinda shocking, When not in regen i can get 30 to 32 easy. 2023 GMC LZ0 x31
I saw on the truck data the 3.73 gears, so you have the max tow package. You would get better in the standard truck with the 3.23 gears.
Try again without being in regen
Had to refresh my memory from your prior Tundra fuel economy run. In terms of cost per mile (using current fuel prices) they’re actually somewhat close.
I get 40+ on the highway going 80-82 mph often I live in Colorado and drive to New Mexico often for work. . I have an AG Diesel Solutions tuner and it makes it drive and shift much better, allows the engine to lug instead of downshift and gives it the extra power it deserves. The most obvious improvement is the fuel mileage. My best is 43.5mpg.
Hey Tim,
Thanks for sharing the overall experience.
Can you get this truck with center console but with a column shifter like before?
You did or did not use neutral? …Contrary to conventional belief, you'd be hurting your MPGs by throwing it in neutral. Most modern motors shut off fuel when the accelerator isn't pressed, but must continue to feed fuel when idling (e.g. in neutral, coasting, etc.).
THE F150 YOU HAD AND THE SILVERADO OR VERY SHARP LOOKING TRUCKS THE TUNDRA IS THE UGLIEST POS
nebraska is beautiful country
i will never have a diesel, that DEF bullshit is a scam, plus it causes problems, my brother in law had the DEF deleted on both of his 2021 gmc trucks, when i drove truck over the road , we didn't have that stupid DEF bullshit
I get 32-34 mpg all day long…. 2021 crewcab 4×4 standard bed 3.0 rst z71 on cruise control @ 68 on the highway…. I travel 700 miles pet week…
The best MPG that I've received is 36 mi to the gallon on about an 89 mi trip. I just took that 200 mi road trip over the weekend and we average 33.5 miles a gallon. I have a 22 refresh with the lm2 I love the truck
Birds love your rig. So much. If ever Green Party won and cars and trucks were taken away. The birds would die of boredom.
I never ever ever use the truck computing it’s own mileage. It may give you a ballpark clue, but that is NOT the actual miles per gallon. Just me. (My vehicles usually get 1.5 to 2.5 LESS MPGs )
…my little man,
At 45 mph a vehicle will get 2/3 better mileage than at 75. At 55 mph a third better mileage.
Tim, any follow up on your oil consumption video in this 3.0l?
I read an article (not sure how accurate it was) that 66 MPH is the best speed for MPG vs. time. The longer you drive at a slower speed will end up costing gas even if the MPG is higher. The reverse goes for too fast.
I have a 2022 high country might mirrors don’t light up when lights are on and they don’t flash when turning is that normal
