Old Fave Pedals Revisited [Are We Still Fizzy About These Tones?]

Welcome to the show! Dan and I have been asked for this a lot. Could we revisit some of the stuff we gushed over in years gone by, plug it in again, give it a schwang and see if it still holds up?
That’s exactly what we’re doing today with a handful of pedals that slipped a metaphorical mento in to our bottle of Coke back in the day.
What about today – are we still fizzy? Let’s find out…

Please enjoy the show!

  1. This was nostalgic viewing. I have to be honest…no ones fault, but I have been finding this channel a little less enjoyable over the past year or so. I've been watching for about 6 years and it's possible I'm just mentally done with gear to this level (for now) but I have not found too many episodes capturing my interest. This was a smart idea for a video. Throw back. Great call.

  2. Seeing the Carpe Diem on your board is takin' me way back.

  3. Cort Miller says:

I have one of the old muffroom clouds. I love it. Had no idea that was a tps collab! It’s great!

  4. PRS8124 says:

I managed to get hold of one of the TPS Carpe Diem pedals a couple of years ago. It’s been a permanent fixture on my board ever since. A fantastic array of tones and it seems to work with any guitar. Thanks again guys.

  5. It’s always good to see (and especially to hear) Red and Blue

  6. Wow, these are some great pedals. Really loved the Colordriver and Planetarium. (Thank goodness for Mick's teachings on motivated reasoning and not identifying, or my wallet would make me stop watching TPS.)

  7. You guys have to check out the BAE Hot Fuzz!!! My absolute favourite fuzz pedal

  8. Fuck yeah the colouresound and the t-Rex are fucktastic

  9. Robert Loch says:

    A future show idea maybe?
Small amps (vintage or modern it doesn't really matter):
Gibson GA-5, Fender Princeton, and so on
Subject: how to record, do they take pedals well, can they sit in a band context and so on

P.S: i'm obsessed with my Gibson GA-5 1958 blonde, i run it at 2 o'clock (that's where everything sounds perfect right Mick? hahahaha) push it even more with my tc electronic mojo mojo OD and also i have a Boss DD3 and a Boss chorus

  10. It can get very amusing to see Dan go into fits of honest ecstacy!

  11. Argh —- reassuring like a button-back leather sofa — thank you TPS

  12. You should get some of the Marshall studio amps and compare them! The new JTM is really neat!

  13. brendanxtrom says:

Did you just drop an “old Greg” reference

  14. Jörg Klein says:

Here is the orange wonder box again. The Colordriver. I love this sound. Great show.

Telecaster – Colordriver – Fender Reverb Unit – Hammond Leslie – Hiwatt with a 4 by 12 Eletro Voice equipped cabinet.

Not suitable for the bedroom and the neighbours are easily stressed! It is huge fun to play with this equipment.

Is it possible to test the Hiwatt Custom 20 Head?

My next project is to build an isolation cabinet. Have you ever made a video about Isolation Cabinets?

  15. Robert Glen says:

Probably the best intro I've ever heard on here. Wow

  16. "Old faves" and yet the Plosive May Booster isn't here. Curious.

  17. Peter Price says:

Although I’m a humbucker lover it’s nice to see the blue strat and the red tele.

  18. Lew Welch says:

🤘👍🏿”The weirder it gets the more I love it.” A rule to live by.

  19. Yuppi says:

    I'm here for blue.

  20. I came here for 49:54, even though I didn't knew it in advance. Jaw dropping.

  21. Another great episode. I've always enjoyed Dan's playing but watching this compared to some of the earlier episodes his solo chops have improved no end. Well played sir!

  22. Dan Hains says:

Great vid. I've been building up courage over many years to try to change my strat pickups – Mick just does it on a random morning. Amazing.

  23. ultratone says:

Last jam worth the price of admission alone…. EPIC!!!!

  24. Hegz says:

    BLUEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

  25. Funnily enough, I dug my Carpe Diem out a couple of months ago, and guess what, its back on the board.

  26. Tom S says:

Simple question while I'm looking at my Phase 90 while the Hartman Flanger was being tweaked in the video.

Does the Phase 90 suffer from being too simplified with the only dial, would a one dial Flanger work as well?

  27. BlackofAzur says:

    What a GLORIOUS board !

  28. Neil Sewell says:

Listening to this on headphones whilst strimming some long grass in the garden … something about the vibrations from the strimmer and the low-end from that Thorpy kicking in … felt like I was there!! Immense.

  29. Eric Jenks says:

Side note: I wish the t-shirts were available in the US store!! I’ve wanted a shirt for years. Not sure about ordering a shirt from the UK to here and if the sizes are the same

  30. mocash says:

    everything together sounds insane. nice.

  31. Jack Levine says:

Top vid dudes! Did you ever get around to fixing the 'worm' pedal you bought? And did you work out what the point of it was!? Stay cool! …..X

  32. Great show guys thanks! Is the planetarium digital?

  33. Matt Eley says:

I swear- either the color profile mick uses in editing has changed, or Blue has gone decidedly more “Mint” since the last time I saw it

  34. Taylor Wyatt says:

that tape delay pedal …. sounds amazing

  35. Richard Reed says:

Absolutely killer show. Seeing you guys watch each other playing with joy. Awesome!!

  36. RubyRoks says:

Red into the Colordriver is what dreams are made of

  37. D. Mac says:

So good to see and hear Blue again!
