  1. This is a not a well designed hole. Obviously I don’t know sh!t about golf course design. However a key element of golf course design is to be penal but fair. This hole generates outcomes which are unnecessarily penal. The bunkering at the front js excellent but the run off at the back generates far too many round destroying outcomes. I think they should rethink the back with maybe more curated bunkering rather than the wasteland. It’s also aesthetically so at odds with the rest of the course. More well curated rear bunkering or a swale would be far closer to the visual identity of the rest of the course. You don’t need to turn everything into Tara Iti

Looks pretty but it’s not in sync with the rest of the course. The sand is complete overkill.

Sorry but it's not an Open style of hole. The whole ' waste ' bunker/sand element is totally out of place. Already attracting lots of controversy and hopefully it won't be there the next time an Open is at Hoylake.

  4. Played this on Golf 5 vr. Closest I'll ever get to playing here. Shot a 10 on this hole lol

  5. Tony Papas says:

Wow – if the wind is up, there are gonna be a LOT of 4/5/6 scores. Talk about having to be precise.

  6. Rowdy Roddy says:

I like everything except the bunker on the right.. the placement is fine… but it's too big and EVERYTHING funnels into it with the slope. I would rather like to see a smaller bunker, and area that the ball could roll into that is rough, or first cut. With the element of maybe it runs off into the bunker, and maybe it doesn't. There should be an element of variation of possibilities, not everything just funnels off into a huge bunker.

  7. Excellent video. I love these detailed explanations into specific hole, would love to see more of that

  8. Festival Tim says:

Thank you for the great look into the making of this hole.

  9. Dan Kaminski says:

They could call the bunker/ collection area right of the green "The Money Pit."

  10. Tim Robinson says:

With firm or strong winds on the weekend, someone will be bitching about it no doubt… good challenge though. They may slow the speed down to hold more shots if it is windy.

    Excellent 👏👏👏⛳️⛳️⛳️🏌‍♂️🏌‍♂️
