This is truly the one drill that can teach you how make solid contact without an instructor next to you. All you have to do is swing the club. I am learning the Jim Veneto golf swing as well, which is a beautiful swing, having more than one swing in your bag is awesome. Back to the feet together drill, if you're struggling this can dial you back in!
So this drill works great ; no doubts; how do we carry this into the full swing tho ? What are we looking to draw from this into the full swing to replicate the strike and kinetic chain ?
Hey Shawn I love the feeling of ball coming off clubface with this awesome drill, but I really struggle with feeling the club falling, how can I get and keep this feel
I ran across this video and wanted to express my thanks. I've recently returned to golf after an 8 year hiatus and have working hard to finally eliminate all the swaying from my swing which I ignorantly lived with for 30+ years prior when I finally just gave the game up. After watching this vid, I've incorporated the drill into my pre-shot routine, taking two swings, feet together, in front of the ball, spreading my legs which, as you pointed out moves the club head forward to address the ball. Beyond improving my rotation and balance, I find that using this drill in the preshot aids tremendously in terms of ensuring my tempo is correct for the upcoming shot. I've probably watch 100 hours of video since returning to play. Of all of them, this video has been the most magical. Thanks again!!!
Shawn, love your work. I just played 2 weeks in a row with conventional stance but with my right heel just raised off the ground slightly and during the backswing. It's the first time i've scored in the 70's two weeks in a row. Solid straight strikes, centred swing & no sway and distance not really impacted probably due to strike quality, not swing speed. Stupid question, should i continue with right heel up or gradually revert back to right heel on ground to potentially get more distance particularly with driver?
I need to try this drill. When I chip, I usually have my feet together because I feel like I have more control. Ive never thought about trying this stance as a drill with longer shots though.
That’s some great clarity on the ball position there. Thanks! Still haven’t tried the driver with feet together, thinking it’s a good idea after that!!
There are many great drills in golf. If there is one "secret sauce" it is the feet together drill. It ingrains the feel of balance and pressure at address. It solidifies the natural movements of every body part. To paraphrase Star Trek, this new drill boldly goes where no drill has gone before. Your emphasis on a slow gathering swing with arms softly dropping is a game changer. From there you extend and throw like tossing a ball. This conjures up the effortless power of a Sam Snead. GREAT STUFF!
Your drills about feeling the club being thrown towards the target. I easily replicate that in drills, and having played baseball until college, I know the feeling, but I can’t translate it to the actual swing.
Should I just force empathize it and then adjust for good contact or is there something else I can do?
One off my favorit drills 👍 🙂 Does this work with different grips? I mean like you said earlier videos. Weaker grip needs more pronounced hand release and stronger grip needs more pronounced body turn.
I want to make sure that I understand the ramifications of this video. Are you no longer recommending the "feet together, perpetual motion drill"? The perpetual motion drill would obviously produce a faster backswing than the slow motion backswing. So are you now recommending that we practice slow motion backswings with the feet together instead of perpetual motion? Should we also use slow motion backswings when actually hitting balls on the course?
I might start the season playing feet together…

How do I stop delofting my shots
"one ring to rule them all" err no Frodo One drill to rule them all !

can this help with an extreme over the top swing with specifically the driver?

I have been doing this drill for years as part of my pre round warmup.

Hey why was that last shot 126 club speed and only 150 ball speed efficiency was very low. Does not seem right
Wow Great drill! Can I just do this on the course during my round (I.e. play that way)?
Great video
Such a good drill Shawn!
You have made a significant change to my game

Having my right hip replaced in 2 days – I’ll start with this drill as soon as I’m allowed to swing a club (along with some putting!!)

Lou and Savannah are both Lefty's. I have used that drill for about 40 years right handed. Time to switch to Lefty?
great tips! well done Shawn
Shawn, I play to a 6-8hdc, but a question sir?

I use this drill regularly but after viewing this video, i see i need to do it better. No dead weight.
Shawn. Is it OK/possible to also do the two tee drill with this feet together drill?
