Check out San Antonio, Tx if you haven't/get the chance. 3 great golf resorts there, TPC (great family resort), La Cantera, and Hyatt Hill Country Resort. There is also a nice Quarry Course in the middle of downtown. Austin is 1hr away, and Houston is 2. Thanks for the great content.
