Chris, could you tell me if bending wrist back works with Driving as well when you have to hit up on ball. Thanks. P.S. cracking video.

  2. TheGolfdaily says:

At last, some is talking about this on golf swing!!
    Thanks for great video. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

New to golf and this video made a lot of things โ€˜clickโ€™. Looking forward to adding some of this to my drills/practice. Main question from a newbie though: how should this be altered for drivers and woods?

  4. Really enjoy these deep dives into the mechanics keep them coming. I'll be down the range giving it a go later in the week too.

  5. What a great descriptive! Step by Step process and easy to understand. No time wasted on talking about what others do wrong, a great focus on How To!

  6. Miles Altman says:

Nice visuals that align directly with what Iโ€™ve worked in with my coach the last two lessons. Once he reminded me that my athletic history is right handed and worked on getting my right hand more involved my ball striking has been better than ever.

  7. Andrey Sto says:

If the drill is difficult for you, it only confirms you really need it!
The more difficult – the more important to stick with it.

  8. "Balance a pizza box on your palm at the top of the backswing"
Elbow between hip and navel approaching impact.
Left shoulder up to the sky for impact and follow through.

  9. Mike T says:

Does this work for woods and driver ?

  10. Frank B says:

Hello Chris, now I am really confused. 10 days ago the exercise was no wrist (umbrella drill); today it is wrist movement all over the place
    What is correct?

  11. Great video as always but I have to disagree with one thing you said at 5:00, "You've got to control the clubface." The golf club is a marvel of engineering which is why is hasn't changed it's basic design in 400 years – because it works. Every golf club, when swung properly, is self correcting and will close naturally through impact if allowed. Any attempt to "control" that will disrupt it and most likely either prevent it from happening completely or at the proper time. There's just no way to "control" the clubface when the club is moving at 80 to 100 mph. Sorry, but this idea of "controlling" the clubface is why so many people struggle with golf. They think the golf club is a mindless stick with a lump of metal on the end that they have to manipulate in order to make the ball go where they want. In reality the golf club is genius in it's engineering so much so that it's invisible to the average user. This is why a child can pick up a club and use it perfectly within 30 minutes, yet adults struggle for years and never get it right.

  12. Great video!!! Do you adjust the last drill for different clubs to account for the different shaft lengths? For example, it would seem that a driver would hit the stick on the way to the ball.

So, Chris, Do you consciously think of cocking your wrists at a certain point in your back swing? Or is it a natural movement that occurs if the grip on the club is correct and not too tight?

  15. Mike Crosbie says:

Chris thank you, I have worked in China for the last 7 years and as such have found it impossible to find a coach. I have followed your tuition on youtube and today was the light bulb moment. I have struggled to understand the release, Switching from each hand as the dominant one. today's video has just explained it perfectly and I've been striking the ball so beautifully. I can't thank you enough. cheers China Mike.

Chris you are my favorite golf channel by far. And not just because both our names are chris ryan lol. Appreciate your videos every single time.

  17. Mike Rodrick says:

I just watched Pete Cowen give a lesson to an instructor & this is exactly what he was stressing but also included rotating the forearm while holding the wrist angle back to cover the ball which seems would take perfect timing an not be easily repeatable other than for advanced players. What are your feelings about this? I guess it's basically throwing the trail arm? He said this is why Hogan said he'd like to have 3 right arms.

  18. Thanks for this. A light dawns! Lose this angle but hang onto that one. Love it, going to have a practice session with this idea.

  19. Ken Boyer says:

Great video. I think with the modern swing and a more closed club face going back, the right arm can get out of position pretty easily.

  20. John C says:

    Great drills and info Thanks!๐Ÿ‘

Great stuff Chris .. thank you

  22. Lavender says:

After months of struggling I finally walked off the course after 6 holes last week. contemplated quitting as I had totally lost perspective on what I was doing with the golf swing. Going to absolutely drill this and hope for an improvement. Thanks for the video.

  23. The 3 things I have been working on, but how is it that my new teaching pro is hitting the exact same elements, but I have to luck on to your video to explain this with crystal clarity? Thank you so much for such wonderful explanations of the golf swing.

  24. sven v says:

Great video again, so easy to understand the moment of the swing.

  25. Roy Close says:

    Well done Chris ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜Š
