Golf Adjustable Hosels 101 | Don't Ignore Adjustable Hosels

At 2nd Swing, our master fitters work with golf adjustable hosels every day helping golfers optimize their golf equipment. Golf adjustable hosels allow golfers to make the necessary tweak to straighten out their tee shots and gain distance.

In this video, 2nd Swing master fitters Larry Bobka and Danny Ferrell discuss the basics of a golf adjustable hosel and why golfers should absolutely take advantage of the adjustable hosels on their equipment.

  1. I have a Tour Edge EXS Pro driver I'd like to get a new shaft for. It has an adjustable hosel and I don't even know where to start lol. Bought it second hand. There was no fitting procedure.

I just got fitted for a cobra ltdx at a major retailer and it was a bad idea. Go to 2nd swing guys. Anyway I typically tee the ball high and the fitter didn't want me to. I had bad ball flights but wanted the driver. I was still in the fairway though. Anyway I play in the simulators regularly and the tee was higher there and I adjusted my driver 1 degree stronger and I was bombing shots. So sometimes you do have to adjust the driver to how you want it and not the fitter wants it. That cobra is a monster though. And at better prices than the bigger names.

Hi, I have a Titleist ts2 8.5 driver. I need more spin and height. I only have a 87 mph swing with an upward angle of attack around 2 degrees. Which setting will help me the most . I normally hit a small fade

  4. I thought the video was going to show someone hitting a Driver with multiple settings and seeing the results ball flights.

  5. Andreas Ball says:

About the Callaway..did it make sense there when he said that the draw setting makes the club more upright and that this can cause a fade? It made me a bit confused since I own this driver and I’m sometimes fighting a fade and wanna change it

  6. Jay Barnett says:

For adjustable hosels… aren’t you supposed to resquare the face? Otherwise it’s the same loft you just opened or close the face. Titleist site even has an * for “effective loft if square at impact”

Also taylormade standard is already flatter than most other drivers. You can go at stated loft from 56 or 60* lie. Just look at their adapter chart.

  7. Eggs Mann says:

I wish the 460 cc head volume was adjustable 🙂

  8. El Hefe says:

Wtf is up with that man’s pants 👖?!

  9. BizzeB1983 says:

I classify myself as a semi-intelligent man but my brain melts when I try to understand the mechanics of how adjustable hosels can change loft, lie, and face angle haha

  10. Dick Broomer says:

Hi Larry & Danny, Loved the Video, When I get a Driver fitting i want a Driver which works perfect 👍 with hosel set to standard, (this gives most adjustment) when I need it, I find + on loft fine but don’t like
    – adjustments as it opens the face, loved Larry’s Comments on trying to adjust titanium Driver’s at tournaments Thanks Dickey UK

  11. Dmkfactor says:

I personally won’t make a change unless it’s my coach doing it for me!

  12. Dmkfactor says:

I was playing with a guy recently that was changing his setting on driver every hole, it was so annoying! Best part, I don’t think he hit one fairway!

  13. I am a high speed slicer. If have heard that putting left handed hosels I can simultaneously reduce loft and close the head. Is that true? How does that work?

  14. Brandon B says:

What are the ideal numbers on launch monitor , I read up 9-12 on my driver. Should I adjust it to a flat lie

  15. Jim Averill says:

I hit my driver better b4 it was adjustable….my current driver is the first ever adjustable for me..
I doubt that my next driver will b adjustable…time for a new one this spring/summer

  16. Dave Lackey says:

The head is only one component the shaft is still the engine

  17. Stew says:

How do you explain the taylormade adapter which goes more upright no matter what adjustments you make, so in lower setting it’s actually more upright than the standard setting. So why would lowering the loft not open face when it’s actually more upright?

  18. I’m genuinely surprised some clubs still don’t have adjustable hosels. I know it’s usually a weight and CG thing but the added versatility can’t be overstated, especially for us amateurs trying to make subtle or big swing changes. Adjustable hosels may allow you to continue to use that club moving forward instead of having something that no longer fits.

  19. I love adjustable drivers. I got fit to rad with weight forward and turned loft up. But struggled with fave control, after making improvements to my swing swapped weight around but lowered loft as I finally started to hit it high
