    1. How to keep score in a scorecard and Golf Handicap are explained in this video. Let me know if you have any questions.

    2. JG says:

6:55 Why do you add 2? Not just 1 or even 3? Why was double bogey chosen? I understand where the 4 and 3 comes from, just not the 2. Thanks

    3. PAULH S says:

look why do you not just keep the settings as 15.6 to 16.4 is 16 simple . this with some 12.2 makes no sense 13.1 can they not count in the US 17.4 to 18 3 . if not then how do they do a stableford score , for that matter score full stop.
GOLF WHEN I STARTED WAS FOR FUN MAYBE A WIN IN A COMP , BUT NOW LIKE PAIRS I GET 4 SHOTS AT THIS CLUB NO WAIT ITS PAIRS NO HANG ON I AM OFF 19 SO NOT THAT GOOD A PLAYER BUT NOW I AM LOWEST MAN SO NIL SCRATCH ZIP AND GIVING 18 SHOTS TO A PLAYER WHO HITS PAR 4S IN 2 . SO YOUR SAYING I OFF 19 NOW 0 HAVE TO BIRDIE 18 HOLES FOR A HALVED MATCH NOT A WIN BUT HALVED MATCH . ITS NOT HARD TO SEE WHY 1/3 OF SENIORS ARE NOT JOINING AGAIN OR PAY TO PLAY OR LIKE US NOW PLAY OUR RULES DO NOT ENTER COMPS ANYMORE EITHER . AND NOW TO TOP THAT OFF SOMETHING ABOUT FROM 1ST OF JANUARY 2023 ONLY 3 PUTTS ALLOWED .

    4. Lee Morrison says:

Great video, well presented and communicated

    5. difference in handicap from different tees

    6. PETER: Hey, uh, Joe?
JOE: Ugh… don’t say it Peter.
      PETER: I was just wondering…
JOE: Peter, I swear to God!
      PETER: What’s your handicap?
JOE: OH-HO-HO! OH! EVERY HOLE! IT’S A JOKE THAT JUST DOESN’T GET OLD!!!

    7. Theo Botha says:

Thank you, now I also understand scoring better!

    8. Dan Potts says:

I don’t think this is correct. If I’m an 18 handicap and I take 9 shots on a par four, I still write “9” on my scorecard, not double bogey +1 (which is 7). Yes, my official handicap (GHIN) will allow a max. score per hole in its calculations, but for the purposes of determine my score for each round, I write the # of strokes it took me on each hole. I don’t pick up my ball and follow my group to the next hole (unless I were severely holding up the group behind me and just being courteous). Even then, I should record a honest amount of estimated strokes on my scorecard (and never do this in a tournament).

    9. Tyler James says:

Good job telling people don’t be slow for beginners! What a joke! They are beginners for a reason you can’t expect them to keep a strict pace!

    10. TAYLORFAN50 says:

Ask her what time it is and she will tell you how to build a clock! Damn. 😏

    11. Your video is very good. I never understood about handicap calculation. You explained so well. I am going to watch all your videos. I am in Vancouver BC. Where do you teach.

    12. Thank you for your clear and thorough explanation for beginner like me!

    13. Thank you I am new to golf!! How to score stableford??

    14. MrTurntUpp says:

Thank you so much for explaining this and sharing it to the world. A friend of mine told me to try it out. I did 9 holes and sucked at it, but this helps.

    15. BSky says:

Very nice ! except for minor comment (no music would have been nice)

    16. Paul Medley says:

Played a lot of golf for years and was member of Men's Association – turn in score and they did the handicap. I was 10 +/- at any given time. Gave golf up for last 15 years. I see have new system since 2020. Personally only saw one U-Tube that showed how final handicap number is calculated. Take Ave of best 20 scores, yes, but then you have to use a formula to get the handicap number. That formula is apparently based on a course index — don't see course index on the cards you show and don't see an explanation (formula) of how you get the handicap number from your 20 best scores ave. That be my question.

    17. This was extremely helpful! Thank you.

    18. Rich Mandau says:

Good explanation of handicap. Now what is the requirement to use the gold tee box?

    19. Does this assume you always shoot from the same tee distance?

    20. John Bethel says:

I wonder why they have 6 spaces for names when 4 is the max group LOL

    21. NETZA Ramos says:

Hi! Coach Shayain, thanks for sharing us great videos, its easy to undertand you. i enjoy watching them, but please, make bigger the subtitles, i cant read them, and its important to follow you, someties there is a lot of noise, or when i dont have acces to a big screen, or i have to be away from tv or computer. this week im gonna star working in a Golf Course in Cancun Mexico, so I want to learn all about it to be helpful to our customers, friends and co-workers. and i hope to learn how to play too. so please help me with bigger size of the subtitles. thanks! i wish you the best as coach and to your channel. see you in your next video. i wont miss it. i hope you read and answer my msg.

    22. Lamar Porter says:

You have been playing golf , and to be able for your information to not to be a benefit to anyone…. Who’s concerned about the game having to get this material I would suggest distribution to all any Golf Clubs that would like to grow their membership:)

    23. Here in australia we have vertical scorecards too, as for slow play if you just walk alittle faster between shots and be ready to have your shot when it’s your turn, you won’t have a problem with slow play.

    24. Good luck finding a par 74 course 70, 71 & 72 are most common , just sayin.

    25. staffan144 says:

I used to think that the purpose of the handicap system was for people with different handicap to be able to play against each other, i.e. to reduce the actual number of strokes played with a person's handicap, to make it more even, a more fair competition even between 'good and bad' golfers etc? But that is not so? Or was it just not adressed in the video?

    26. staffan144 says:

So you are (with maximum handicap) never allowed to make more than 2+3 = 5 strokes more than the par of the hole?

And a person with zero handicap (a scratch golfer) is never allowed to make more than a double bogey?
I.e. tripple bogies are not allowed to be played by a person with zero handicap?

    27. Ed LoVuolo says:

How about explaining what Slope and Rating mean for the course and how those numbers are computed. I think even seasoned golfers don't quite understand those definitions as far as how difficult the course plays. I know the higher the slope the more difficult it is and how is the rating calculated in terms of the particular par for a certain tee box (blue, white, red, etc.)

    28. TA L. says:

I broke down when my ball went in the water……broke down crying! LOL. Thanks for the excellent video.

    29. Okay Oo says:

Great video, the one thing I didn’t get was how you determined the “handicap strokes” how do I know 54 is 3 extra strokes and 18 is 1 etc?

    30. can you explain stroke index please cheers.

    31. REP7580 says:

Have been getting into golf the last 3 years(2019-2022). Brief intro a few decades ago. Retired 3 years ago. Heard some terms before. Vague awareness of some of them. This tutorial really cleared up the fog in my mind. Thanks.

    32. G says:

I just love your personality. Every video puts a smile on my face.

    33. MIKE TAWA says:

My wife just started, I've been playing for 30+ years. I've learned one thing, do not give golf lessons to your wife! She has taken a few lessons and I help her out if she forgets anything the instructor taught her. She wanted to know what everything meant on a scorecard. You covered everything except what the numbers mean next to the men and women's handicap which was not in numerical order. I explained to her that those numbers tell you the most difficult holes and the easiest holes 1 being the most difficult and 18 being the easiest. I personally try not to look at those numbers, I get psyched out for some reason. I look at it after the round. Like your vids.

    34. Just here to also say this is the first time I’ve ever comprehended handicap. Thanks coach!

    35. Clearly explained. Thank you. Two questions though -what if the player scores only one shot, ando what is a butt?

    36. Second page confused me

    37. Dongmei Liu says:

Thank you for explaining the score card. So on a tournament, does each player need to write down all other three players’ score or only write own and partners. I watched on you say ask scores at the next tee box and not on green as FYI. Thanks Amy

    38. rexoner2000 says:

Just now learning to keep score, and registered my handicap.

I never understood the handicap stroke number on the scorecard. Now I can flex on my partner “pick your ball up, you just hit 9 strokes on a par 4, after 7 you are done”. Or at least I will hold myself more accountable over the group.

    39. John C says:

Hello, so if I “max out” on shots as a new golfer, how do I mark that on the card? On a par 4, I play my 8th shot. do I mark it as a 8? Or do I not score that hole so people know I picked up? I hope that makes sense.

    40. Marion S. says:

This like something for golf wives? ✌️🤔

    41. Alex Weber says:

Thank you so much you where so much of help

    42. Fabian Sosa says:

Can someone tell me if there's any par 12 courses around please? I would like to get at least a par or birdie.

      Thanks.

    43. Vishal L says:

This is my first week for playing with my son, we are both new and we’re clueless on scorecard. I saved this lesson very useful and makes going to the course more meaningful now. Thank you.

    44. Andrew says:

You're such a beautiful and magnificent woman

    45. Trez Zadeng says:

So handicap means you have extra shots but doesnt have any advantage. My 1st thought was that if u have an extra 3 shot on par 4 hole, you'd make par even if u make it in 7 shots

    46. My boyfriend plays golf a lot and I am glad that I finally understand it 🙂 Thank you <3
