Great vlog. Haven't watched for a while but will go back and watch the rest of the series. Fuel. Yep in Brissie it can easily be 30 cent different from Logan to the north side.
Love you guys so informative. We leave next week on our 6 month trip long service leave our excitement levels are off chart. looking forward to next weeks episode as always
Very nice episode guys Beer πΊ cost me a lot π»π»π»π»
Awesome information thanks guys
Great vid , thanks for sharing your honest opinions and tips. Our 12 month trip started 4 years ago! Still with no planned end date! We travel and work along the way and agree with all your tips especially the groceries, fuel & accommodation. We also like to follow the old rule K.I.S.S – keep it simple stupid π Happy travels guys ππ»
Well said
Very informative
Very good information for all of us travellers AND for young new home owners
Paul Clitheroe, move over
Awesome video as usual guys. Looking forward to your walkthrough on the new van. π
Awesome bloody video guys and very informative! Weβre also frugal in real life so hopefully thatβll transfer to van life when we finally hit the road in January! Tow vehicle is currently on the boat! π€π½
$100 voucher would go a long way as thereβs always something thatβs needed for the van! π
I can't for the life of me understand how a family of 4 can eat for a week on $200, I used to spend more than that when I was living alone.
Great tips, thank you keep up the good work!!!
Ok, Liz mentioned that you talked about the cost of the electrical system when you were in Canberra, is there any chance you had the work done in Canberra? I am having trouble finding someone locally to do an upgrade (complete system) on a new van I am expecting in July.
Hey Simon & Liz. I believe I have jumped through the first couple of hoops to enter the $100 voucher giveaway competition.
Loved the video and all the aspects to consider when my family and I eventually head off on our Oz travels. I am absolutely dying to see what mod you guys have done to your new van in relation to maximising your water saving/storage capability … I just hope that whatever it is, it's not out of reach/impossible to incorporate in my own van. That said, having been a subscriber of your channel for a while now, I can't see you guys showcasing a caravan mod or initiative that is too far out of reach of the 'common man' (or woman).
Thus far, I have installed a Topargee water flow meter (Bluetooth model) which definitely helps to monitor water usage and purchased a Redwater HWS diverter (some water savings) and a portable water flow meter (measure water input into onboard tanks) but of course, these don't do much to significantly increase or improve water capacity or storage.
The other initiative I plan to follow through with is purchase of a water bladder stored in the rear seat footwell (GVM/GCM limitations permitting) to more so, ferry water back to the caravan for top-ups rather than as permanent water storage. The last initiative is a fully portable water pump & filtration system which will allow me to siphon and filter water from a flowing creek or river.
Apart from that (and possibly a reverse osmosis system), you guys have got me beat as to what exactly you've incorporated in your new van so I eagerly await that upcoming episode π
Wow another very informative Off-grid episode, it shows that we can all learn how to budget while on the road, we are careful on our caravan adventures and definitely don't go without, we eat out, also have plenty of food and also wine and beers etc thank you both for sharing your tips β€
Great video. We've been on the road for over 10 months. I'm in awe how your accommodation costs can be so low. Even free or low cost camping has 'donation' costs which add up to more than $40 a week for us. We're heading home after our anticlockwise loop; and then doing Tasmania but doing the upgrades you talk about in the other videos in this series which juxtaposed nicely with your Tasmanian trip tips π
Thank you for the honest video team! We love your content. We are 4 months into our trip, we have not long crossed the recently graded Plenty from Alice (thanks for all your videos on those areas we rewatched them all.) You are right, itβs the extra things, for us a beer (or three) and meal at a great country pub, that really add up. We are averaging about $1100 a week. This is currently a 12 month trip so we are enjoying ourselves and spending our savings. But we are already wondering how we will ever go back to the routine of work life. You are living the dream! Thank you again, hope to see you on the road somewhere.
Great episode guys π
Great discussion guys. Much appreciated. Only doing shortish trips atm til I finally retire but long service leave is definitely a bonus to help get out and about. Enjoy your travels in your new van.
