You raise a really interesting point about having to start the downswing with a slight upper and lower body rotation for ball turf contact as opposed to starting the down swing with just a lateral shift. A lateral shift of just the hips will ,as you demonstrate, cause a flip at the ball. Not great for ball turf contact . However ,for green side bunker play,, starting the down swing with a lateral shift as opposed to body rotation is exactly what you want to do to splashing the ball out with sand by landing the club head behind the ball. Just the opposite of ball turf contact.
Thanks, this is pure gold
When u demonstrated the turn on side view. I noticed ur trail leg didn’t move forward.. ur lead moved back!
That’s my homework assignment.. that shows a wet clear picture of how it should look like
Golf is so hard. As much as this video makes sense I've seen others (inc. Russell) that suggests keeping your back towards the target in the early downswing is a good feeling to have. Problem is you can't rotate your chest early while simultaneously keeping your back towards the target. Maybe the latter is more relevant for a driver swing??
I agree with Harold. I keep trying to get separation, move lower body first, squat to square up and then post up. How does it all fit? I asked this question of another you tube instructor and got my ass handed to me. Said he had 318 other videos and can’t teach all concepts in on lesson. Now I am should be down to 318 swing thoughts. Can you fit together the ideas above and how turning chest first act together. Keep trying to get better (at least 5 videos a day) and practice but confused by this one.
A true revelation I had gottten all wrong until this video-
Very much what I was working on yesterday. Thanks, Russell!
Angular momentum. Yes great lesson. Thanks again man.
