Right hand thumb goes on top or on the lead side?

    4. Number 1 to 10 how?

    5. Why is it every tutorial I watch on holding a club they mostly all have a different grip with the lead hand?

    6. Oregawn says:

Can anyone actually show what the grip looks like underneath

    7. MACK says:

      76 , 88, and 86, definitely on my way to breaking 75

    8. I no longer slice. Many many thanks!

    9. Simon Thorpe says:

Got to be honest, it doesn't get any clearer than this!

    10. Barry Murton says:

Rick, watched this the other night and it has been a great help, particularly the grip. Thanks buddy!

The best explanation I have seen in holding the club – thank you 👍🤛

Rick I watch a LOT of your videos but this one really threw me. I started playing gold over 30 years ago. I am not as good as you, one certain reason is I do not play as much as you do. I do not hold my club the way this video teaches, so I tried it, and straight away I start hitting left. I find this set-up with two knuckles visible causes too much twist in my left wrist forcing a draw. I have always played with my left thumb (glove) pointing straight down the shaft so I can pretty much not even see my first knuckle, forget about the second one. Interlock fingers classic style with right thumb also pointing pretty much straight down the shaft. For me this is a neutral grip?

    13. I've keep slicing my drive shot. Hopefully this change of grip will help.

    14. Whoever owned my clubs before me definitely had a wacky grip

    15. L V says:

Do you grip pressure with both hands or just with target hand

    16. Where do your right other fingers go? Do they hold the other thumb of the golf club? My hands are bigger, I can't get those fingers onto the club at the same time

    17. mark koorey says:

What about the trigger finger at bottom of grip?

    18. Hi, I am a newbie but left handed – probably a stupid question but do I just reverse what you are saying Rick ?

    19. Thanks I’ll try that tomorrow. New to golf only my first week so hope thins can fix my slice

    20. Peter uwatch says:

Hey Rick, very good video & well communicated. Question,…I did this & my shots ate now lower. Trajectory is very low. Is that likely from an improper or no hinge? Either way you answer, can you describe the timing & proper hinge?

    21. Just starting very excited! Does it work with drivers as well?

    22. ziki na says:

He looks familiar from some sketch …

    23. John Levin says:

Thank you for a great video

    24. Paul Stokes says:

so i’ve just learned i’ve had my hands backwards for over 30 years, nobody has ever corrected me.. now.. do i continue goofy? or start all over again? 😩

    25. Rick I use a cack handed grip… I know I shouldn't but I always have. Nobody taught me how to play golf I just started playing on my own and it just feels like the right way for me. The conventional low right hand grip feels all wrong. Should I force myself to change or keep with it… I strike the ball well this way and usually straight.

    26. Drendon says:

      Hi Rick,
I’ve been taking lessons with my club pro – but struggled with grip consistency. Your video finally helped me crack it – thank you. I can finally hit the ball straight, thanks to you.

    27. MJ Schrock says:

      Great help Rick!!!

    28. Phil W says:

Hello Rick, Love your videos. One thing about both of your 'How to hold the club' and other grip videos is you didn't say or show where the left thumb is placed on the golf club. Also you did not mention or show how the right hand forefinger and thumb are placed on or around the golf club. I feel both of these are vital to the golf grip too as I'm sure you do. Just wanted to point these out. Keep up the great work!!

    29. Thank you. I just started playing again after a few years off. This was very helpful.

    30. Mistie says:

      Thank you from Canada

    32. Josh Nielsen says:

Just want to say thanks I watched this and one about swinging a driver and I went to the range and did well than went golfing and played my best round yet. I’m still not good but definitely better

    33. carmen hall says:

      I enjoyed this video.

    34. Mike Mays says:

Rick, using some American slams to describe how helpful your advice is “you got your shit together.”

Definitely the best video this amateur, don’t know shit about golf has watched.

    35. Thanks a lot Rick, Have been golfing for 9 months now and i noticed that my grip has been changed since my speed increased. Changed my grip a bit weaker to neutral and back is the accuracy. Greatings from The Netherlands!

    36. Robert Longo says:

Rick my hands down by my side relaxed the palms do not face slightly inwards – they are square 90 deg to the Target Line. when I place the Top Hand on the Grip I see one knuckle only. With that starting position I throw the clubhead through the Ball at impact. Using the conventional 2 0r 2 1/12 knuckles forces me to lock the wrists at impact and use more body action to hold the clubface square at impact = bad Back. is this a bad way of playing or is it one of the many differences that makes golf such a challenging game (i.e. nothing ever works for everyone). appreciated.

    37. John Pachner says:

I almost gave up golf because I was slicing my drive so incredibly bad 50% of the time. But watched some of ricks videos on how to stop the slice, went to the driving range a few times and now it’s so easy to hit good drives. It’s insane

    38. I've had an extremely weak left hand grip opposed by a strong right hand grip that has worked well for me the past 5 years and fixed my big push hook that I've had since I was a junior golfer. Experimented a little with it today, on the range, trying a more neutral left hand grip. Hit a few shanks and some fat shots and more hooks. Just wanted to try a fundamentally sound grip for a change. Amazing how this subtle change to grip can cause such different results.

    39. Tried this today and scored 10pts over my average, great tip Rick👍

    40. THANK YOU!! I’ve been struggling to keep my shots straight. Ran across this video, and realized I had let my grip position slip causing me to hit a more severe draw. Now, if I concentrate on my grip, my shots are much more accurate.

    41. ANMAQ M says:

Thanks Rick for a very good explanation on the most important fundamental in golf.

    42. Ezwan 1901 says:

Hi Rick.. Thank you for the great advices and teachings you've given all of us with your videos. They're really fantastic!! I have a question if you don't mind. With regards to the grip pressure you mentioned (7 out of 10), is that for the left hand or the right hand? Super Thanks Rick 😊

    43. Corey Hunnel says:

Rick shiels golf you inspire me to get better and I do with every swing I wish I could get a one on one lesson

    44. Paul Dawson says:

Thanks Rick! I been struggling with grip. I am going to be using this

    45. Matt Bickham says:

Great video. Always important to go back to the basics if you are having issues. Somewhere along my short playing journey I started gripping the club more in my palms than my fingers. It was the root of my slice after correcting everything else.

    46. Riggz says:

I’ve got a question I’m struggling with after already gaining quite a bit of experience. What do you do with your thumbs!
