Heres how to strike your fairway woods pure. If you would like to stop topping your fairway woods, get the ball up in the air or simply improve the overall strike then this training should really hit the spot

Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!

I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.

On YouTube and my personal website ( I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.

Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble

I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Great advice, as always Danny. I’ve been really struggling with lashing at and pulling driver and fairway woods. Back to basics. 😢

    2. Just found this video Danny. Thanks so much. Off to play nine holes, will try to remember your advice

    3. Leo Santana says:

      Thanks for the video!!

    4. KIRIT SHAH says:

You do too much talking about science of hitting…for swift clarity just a good quality sketch w different colors for ball, club , ground, face of club and horiz vert lines will have better impact of your message …

    5. jim gilmore says:

Great advice as usual Danny bur so difficult at the range to only hit half shots!

    6. david cox says:

I have a 3 wood with a 5 wood head for more loft

    7. Kirkland 007 says:

I have a 3 wood head with a 5 wood shaft and I still can’t hit the damn thing 🤦😩😭

    8. I’ve been taught to play a relatively neutral shaft angle with my fairway woods and hybrids, it seems that you have incorporated a more aggressive shaft angle which would seem to facilitate “hitting down “ on the ball – correct?

    9. MrZocor says:

      3 wood 230? I can't hit a driver barely 200.

    10. Woodglut is a good solution for every woodworker.

    11. Nishat K says:

Hi Danny appreciate all your classes. I hope you can clarify my confusion . Is it different strike position from the driver as in a driver video you mention striking upward but in this vid you mention striking downward ?.thank you

    12. Ivor England says:

Well done again. Makes perfect sense. You have the knack of making golf simple to understand. Best on YouTube for that in my opinion. Can’t wait until the end of lockdown to try it.

    13. Bruce Wise says:

Great information Danny the degree of my 3 wood doesn’t get up like my 5 wood 🤔🇨🇦 thanks Mate 👍

    14. Woodglut has very good and accurate plans.

    15. Truc Hua says:

Can't see ur marks not sure what you mean. Also most people tell me to hit slightly up 🤔

    16. Dave Everitt says:

This marker tip has been a game changer for me. I play with a full set of hybrids SW to 3 hybrid and it works well with all of them. I also play with a 13 degree t-less driver which is designed to be hit slightly down and am now hitting it very well. What a great and simple visualisation.

    17. Thank you. I really struggled with these clubs and virtually ignored them. When I did use the three wood it caused me more frustration than it’s worth because of the unpredictable outcome. At least I now know the reasons for my frustration and perhaps can begin to improve my outcomes.

    18. Thanks, Danny. This is such a great video. I have been using a driver, 5 wood and 7 wood – so it is great to hear you advocate that! Looking forward to working on that descending strike.

    19. Thanks Danny for a great video. The wife got problem with her 3woods which she developed recently. She is pulling her hair n my hair out in her frustration! 😂😂😂Will bring a marker to the range tomorrow with her.

    20. Stephen Warr says:

Cheers danny just taking 5 wood out of flower pot well done

    21. Bob Sanders says:

Lower your backswing plane. Much easier to find the ball on the downswing.

    22. Mike Penezic says:

Best instruction that I have watched so far. It’s 7 degrees outside right now but I can’t wait to go to the driving range and start working on my swing.

    23. Thanks Danny for tip, got too steep with new Mavrik 5W mmmmm tiny nick top front, oh well, but thanks for the ball position visual.

    24. Great instruction I can understand many thanks

    25. Danny, your instruction is so clear and easy to understand. Great job on instructing fairway wood shots! You keep it simple with just a couple of things to focus on. I appreciate it!

    26. Art Griffin says:

Thanks Danny. Will give a go today!👍

    27. Using my woods on the fairway use to be the best part of my game and that included my 3 wood but now I’ve totally lost my way with how to use them. I regularly got good flight and distance but have got confused on how to take the club away in the back swing. Have you done a video for this issue ?

    28. jaloganut says:

      Great instruction!

    29. Gary van Zyl says:

      Thanks Danny, love your lessons!

    30. Neil Bailes says:

More magic,  so I went out with a 3 wood first time for months, I also use a 5 wood and it was going further than the 3 wood.  next time out I will try your way, cheers.

    31. when you practice off a solid range mat you can still have good looking shots even if you catch the mat then bounce into the ball but off grass will give you better feedback eg going too deep or grazing the grass for a thin but it's still a good drill to practice on

    32. L A says:

Are your shoulders similar to hitting iron shots at address? Is there any difference when hitting off a Tee low to the ground with a 5 wood or 3?

    33. @Danny Maude it looks like long iron swing
