Seems like Lefty makes a lot of appearances here.

A couple of years ago my ball was very close to a metal boundary fence. I flipped a wedge over and tried to go at it wrong handed. On the downswing I clipped the metal fence post and missed the ball. The post had a metal cap on it which apparently was loose and when I clipped the post the cap fell and covered the ball. I was playing the usual low stakes nassau (stroke play) with my best golf pal. After a good laugh, I told him to go ahead and play next out of turn. He hit a real nice shot onto the green in birdie range. I really don't know if I could have moved the cap or whether I had an unplayable situation (as I suspect) and never bothered to find out as my ball ended up in my pocket.
