LEARN THE 4 SKILLS OF PUTTING

In this golf lesson Chris explains the 4 skills of putting and shows you how you can test each of these skills. This is key to establishing where you need to spend the majority of your practice time.

By understanding your putting stroke it will allow you to stop 3 putting, hole more putts and become a better putter overall, a great way to lower your scores.

This was great!! I struggle w/ reading the green and then pace. I can roll the ball pretty well but often miss the cup just on the edge…sometimes right, sometimes left. I'll definitely use the gate and work on both of those! Thanks again for a very useful video! David, USA

  2. Willem Flach says:

And I thought it was just “putting”. I tend to under read breaking putts. I think this will help tremendously. Your teaching is always spot on. Thank you.

  3. Chief_keiv says:

I've already learned the skills of 4 putting.. oh wait

  4. Beau Fitz says:

Good video…Probably the one part of golf that doesn’t get enough practice….Especially pace!!

Chris I have heard 2 schools of thought for the stroke. Short back and long through or Long back and short through. Which will deliver a more consistent strike and roll on the ball?

  11. I'm not good hitting straight, i open or close the faceclub

  12. I love the lesson but this seems impractical. I could very much be wrong. The average golfer does not have access to an unoccupied green section to set up tees and perform many of these exercises.

  13. CP Joshi says:

    Tell us putter grip please

  14. Peter K says:

Hi Chris. I love the vids as always. Could you please please help? Where I play, the greens are slow all year, even Summer. What is the best approach? Do I hit the ball harder? (Just afraid that will lead to a wristy putting stroke). Get a heavier putter? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks so much. Peter

  15. I'm a brand new golfer. Thank you for the clean instructions. Can you tell me what you mean when you say "Pushing a ball"?

  16. Stuart Lowe says:

Aiming the putter face crucial. I made my own “gate” from Lego can easily at home anytime

  17. Jean M says:

What about a video about how to putt over ridges in the green?

  18. Fabian says:

This was great, thanks, I been tryin to find out about "golf driver swing" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried – Graysonyon Putter Prolific – (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my friend got cool success with it.

  19. Thank you a million. I over read the green and always strike to the left.

  20. I struggle with getting the ball to the cup. It is because I have a lack of confidence in making a 3-4 foot putt if I hit the putt too hard. So, pace is the biggest problem I have. In the 4 skills video, you did not talk about the swing of the putter. Do you use a rocking motion? Or do you putt with arms?

  21. Pace is the biggest issue for me, by far (handicap7). Thanks for your clear instruction.

  22. Bren Kenny says:

This is a nice no nonsense video. 4 solid tips.

  23. Using the Dave Pelz method GATE is incorrect. 10% of the putts, 90% are breaking putts. The entrance to the hole is not 4 1/4 inches on a breaking putt. For example, at the 2005 Masters 70th hole (16th @ Augusta). Tiger Woods chipped 2nd shot, 10 feet left and past the hole, then the ball came back 10 feet into the hole & entered the hole exactly behind the cup from Tiger. The more the slope of the green, the larger the entrance to the hole. 2nd example, during the final round of the 2019, the TV was showing a LARGE 12 inch corridor into the hole about called the "Soft LINE & the Firm Line." Therefore, correct speed for that line the ball will go into the hole. By using the GATE Pelz method, you are missing 17% more putts. Allen E. Jansson "HOW TO MASTER THE ART OF ONE-PUTTING."

  24. The last few minutes are money! Putting isn’t a skill, there are skills within putting. Perfect
