For her final professional event at the US Open, Nike Golf presented Michelle Wie West with a special PE-style release of the Air Jordan 1 Golf. Her Hawaiian roots, Korean heritage, and the groundbreaking waves she made in the sport are all infused in this incredible design.
Wie burst into the scene way back in 2003 when she became the youngest ever to make an LPGA cut. She eventually did win one major – the US Women’s Open in 2014.
Her Air Jordan 1 Golf “Wave” is most noted for the customized Swoosh logo which is in the shape of an ocean wave — a nod to her life in Hawaii. In the unboxing video below, Wie also points out her daughter’s initials and the korean word for “mother” on the tongues, “ALOHA” on the outsole, and lace buttons that read the Nike slogan in English and in Korean. The reason for the Air Jordan 1 is that Wie heavily favored high-tops throughout her career and wore variations of the Nike Blazer for her events.
Michelle states that the shoes will be available today, although it is unclear when/where they’ll be made so to the public.
