Sports Card Strategy Show (and Tell): How to Prep Sports Cards for PSA Grading & Card Shop Pickups

Welcome to the next episode of Sports Card Strategy Show (and Tell), a new, natural extension of our flagship show, but with a focus on your cards, questions and ability to share the who, what and why about your PC and flipping game.

Today, Ryan Painter, a contributor, starts out with his David Bell collection which is his L of the week and year.

Chad Guell takes us through how he submits his PSA cards for grading with what you need and steps for submitting.

What you Need:
Card saver 1, Penny sleeve
Cut out cardboard to protect between cards
Scissors or razor blade
Microfiber towel
Return address label

How to Submit to PSA:
Take a card saver and snip one edge of the card saver ¼ inch to easily slide the card in without damaging the corners.
Add a return address label on the inside and outside of the penny sleeve. (see video)
Use a microfiber cloth or pantyhose and wipe card from bottom to top going in one direction.
Slide card into penny sleeve.
Take a card and slide into the card saver.
The tabs help the grader pull the card out of the sleeve.

Mosaic Joe shows his wide variety of cards from Ken Griffey Jr. rookies to Playboy, Bill Clinton, and Pokemon.

Chase Crim, also a contributor, shares his amazing collection of a few PSA 10’s like a Topps 2019 Gio Reyna and an outstanding 2021 Cristiano Ronaldo card that you must see!
Chase’s tip of the day – “Don’t limit yourself when buying or you might miss out on something great. Adapt to what you see”.

Paul Hickey shares his trip to Graybo’s and shares a few cards he picked up like Ozzie Newsome, a few Michael Jordan’s, Cade Cunningham, and Metchie. Paul also shares an interesting Beckett Jordan Card that he isn’t quite sure what to do with.

Last but no least, ohmyshoes brings some great acting and comedy to the show and leaves us with a fantastic show and tell and a lot of laughs!

  1. Another way to go about the preparation process is using 130 pt sleeves instead of cutting the corners of a penny sleeve and using those colorful post-it tabs which can have the same use as the address labels. I’m glad Dr. Crack shared this method with everyone since I’ve been doing the same thing for years.
