The Rick Shiels 8 iron bump and run.. Saved about 5 strokes a round since I started using this.. Treat it like a putt.. It's perfect! Thanks for showing this again Matt!

Hey Matt… just found your videos and subscribed… love how you teach and explain each lesson/ drill/ tip.
IMO, the best I've seen or even gone to in person. I do have one question about the bump and run… can you play this shot out of rough lie around green and if so, same set up and principal? Guess that was two
Anyway, thanks for all the instruction and keep up the great work!!

    3. Peter McGill says:

Wonder how it would go if you just hit your 54 (like the previous video) at the pin.

    4. Dave Timmons says:

this has always been a shot I've had problems with, recently I've been using a 4 hybrid to make the shot and while better, still not good. Seems like I've been missing the weight forward part of it, when the courses open back up here in Ontario, I'm gonna try this and see what happens. BTW always enjoy videos from you, Rick and Peter.

    5. My favorite shot. I actually do this with not just a 9 iron but my 2 hybrid to work on my touch.

      Nice refresher!!!! Thanks!!

    7. Thanks. I’ll have a go.

    8. After watching this video I've practiced the technique alot and I think it's the most useful tip I've had in a long time. Defiantly helping me drop strokes

    9. Chevy 4x4 says:

It’s a strong part of my game. Also, I refuse to risk skulling a lob wedge over the green and making a huge number. Chipping is low risk and high reward.

    10. Dave Shannon says:

It's a shot I was taught by a pro, it's by far my favourite shot, 9i for me, such a good shot, a lot safer, less can go wrong and if it does go a little wrong you still aren't miles away for your putt, I've holed lots of these shots, definitely my go to shot around the greens 👍🏻👍🏻

    11. Kenneth Dias says:

There is a siren in the distance the dog can hear but you can’t. He is marching the tone several octaves lower the resonance tickles and he likes it.

    12. Gary Hovey says:

Faldo talked about chipping with his 8 iron during a broadcast a few weeks ago….definitely a great skill to master 👍🏻

My favorite shot… ye ole bump-n-run!

    14. Mark Jones says:

Another good Video. Waiting for my new T200 to arrive and courses to open so I can practise this. 🏌️‍♀️

    15. James Snyder says:

I play this shot all the time. It has lowered my handicap by 4 strokes. No more blading a flop shot and adding shots to my score card. As a matter of fact, I have gotten rid of my lob wedge altogether.

    16. dave watts says:

This is the scoring end of the game poor chips destroy your score obviously however the pressure it puts on the rest of your game is enormous

    17. Tyler Hall says:

😳🤣 also thought Matt was going to the blue flag! 🤣🤦🏻‍♂️

    18. Tyler Hall says:

Toe the club down!! Did that last year and wow! Game changer! 👏🏼🔥🔥

    19. My favourite shot. Saves me loads when I get the speed right.

    20. Ronnie says:

      great tips! thank you

    21. reuk says:

The dry weather here is a blessing for a bump and runner like me

I can do it even on the rough
