Your instruction to keep your arms close and low around the body creates great contact, consistency and power, BIG thanks, but I find I draw the ball too much. Should I just aim right of the target or should I try and perfect this sweeping follow through for a slightly straighter ball flight?

  3. Goes against what I've been told but works! You're awesome! Thanks!!!!

  4. Jerry Combs says:

Fabulous Tom and so simple! No swing thoughts other than to just drag the club, thanks!!

  5. Tom, thank you for making the swing & principles of it simple!

  6. Dale Wilson says:

Like you dropped a ball on a concrete sidewalk.

  7. Saguto is a beauty, up there with moe Norman

  8. DE ER says:

watch as many moe norman videos as you can to learn this technique

  9. Living in MN I don’t get to golf as much as others…I’ve been golfing for 25 years and your videos are really helping me in my transition of life to continue enjoying this game as I get older.

You enjoy the ‘pureness’ of the game; If you’re in MN, I’d love to treat you to a round!!

HI Tom! LOVE, LOVE LOVE your videos. I am a 62 year old somewhat heavy set man who gave up on golf approximately 35-40 years ago because like so many armatures, I had no consistency. Every swing was a prayer because I never understood the mechanics and proper techniques of a golf swing. I used to think it's just like whacking a baseball, only the ball is on the ground. Right? You just rear back and whack the crap out of it. I just had to "find my swing" but didn't think I ever could. Funny knowing now how misguided I truly was. My Son-In-Law recently gifted me a set of Nike Slingshot irons, which I completed by adding a putter and a few drivers. Went out to the driving range and just like before, every swing was a wing and a prayer, a chop, top, miss, and if it went high and straight, it was pure luck. Many tees were sacrificed in the making of my humiliation. Although, I did manage to hit some of the most gorgeous slicers which had so much spin, I thought they were going to corkscrew barrel roll before disappearing somewhere over the trees lining the right hand side of the range. I thought of the Michael Jordan PSA, "Stop! Get some help!" Well, after searching around on You Tube, I came across your videos and YOU ARE AWESOME! I love your humor, and the way you break down and simplify techniques which make it easy to incorporate in my swing discipline, which I've been working on every day for the past two weeks, and HOLY SWEET LOVE MOTHER FRIED CHICKEN!!! This stuff works!!! I went back to the range and wound up putting together a string of mile high straight flyers and couldn't believe my eyes. Before, I left in shame with my head held low, wondering if I would ever be back, but now, I feel very enthusiastic and hopeful for future improvement. The super cool thing is, I am now starting to feel a passion for golf I never knew I could. I love what you said how nothing in golf is a "quick fix," and you have to put in the work, but when you do, consistency becomes the new light at the end of a long dark tunnel. All I want to do now is get out there and practice, practice, practice! I still have a long way to go and a lot of work ahead, but I can't wait! It's a shame I can find any all night driving ranges. 🙂 Thanks Tom! Roger

  12. 😂😂I tried it I saw dirt but hit 95 on a par 34 lol

  13. dapper dank says:

Tom you remind me of a modern day Moe Norman X Tom Hanks ❤

  14. Skittles says:

Hey Tom are you still doing in person lessons or only online?

  15. Pete Lane says:

    I'll try again!

  16. Bob T says:

Love your instruction, I'm 64 and it's made a huge difference for me. However, I feel the drag the handle/hands ahead is a slippery slope to go down. I knew a fellow ( single-digit handicapper) who became obsessed with this impact position until his wrist action started stiffening in an effort to hold onto "lag". He lost tons of distance and regressed to the point where he stopped playing. I thought the hands ahead slightly at impact was the result of correct downswing sequence with supple wrists keeping the lag angle intact, no?

  17. Tony says:

I watched 2 of your shorts and took 5 strokes off my iron game. You are the man.

  18. I no longer scroll YouTube for golf tips now that I’ve found your channel. I’m about to go play in an hour and try and do as you say. See if I can get under 95 lol. Have a great day

  19. ocean8 L says:

Hi but how and when should flip the wrist after dragging ?

  20. TheBlaster54 says:

Thank you a bunch, Tom. You’re the best instructor I’ve seen. I’m going to the course today and I’m going to the practice range and practice this swing advice.

  21. gcoffey223 says:

Best coach on youtube? Yes, yes he is

  22. Blake says:

Bro this video going to ruin so many golfers 😂😂😂😂😂
I need to make instruction videos.

  23. Blake says:

Can’t believe Tom is now advocating handle dragging lol. I thought he knew the secrets, evidently not. Ben Hogan – keep elbows connected to sides, if you do that it makes handle dragging impossible.

  24. Cadiz Wilmo says:

Great tips from the GuitarMan! Been doing this drill and you're right, it works! Thank you sir!

  25. The player who really incorporated this concept was Mo Norman … I think that he was pretty consistent.

  26. topmanhobby says:

Do you do this with Fairway Woods as well as irons ???

  27. cuckoo says:

Another great video, not only has my golf game become solid, the enjoyment factor has multiplied also and all due to Tom Saguto

  28. Night Wolf says:

Good video…I am a new member to your channel…can you do a vid which specifically talks about ball positioning with irons, as well as the grip technique you use? Thank you…!

  29. Harry Caul says:

Close your eyes at 3mins 10 seconds mark and you just know that is the crispiest , most clean, beautiful contact from the sound of the club on the ball, you don't need to see that, just listen. Perfect.

  30. Ironlyfe says:

this is a tough one to explain i think most people would end up being stuck most of the time and end up firing too late and or with varying degrees of shaft rotation to get the club square which will end up being bad as well i agree with your impact point and the position at impact but that is a result of not only your lead wrist coming through but also at the same time your wrists firing which in my opinion isn't explained in enough detail therefore people end up leaving all this speed and power on the table and don't understand why they are so inconsistent

  31. kancasey says:

This action applies to iron , fairway wood and driver????

  32. Kyle Meaders says:

I really like the way to teach. You make it refreshing and simply. Lightbulb moments fore me. Down to a 10 handicap

  33. Jay says:

Been into golf for about a month now and have been super inconsistent while watching many golf videos. My friend recommended you and after watching about 5 videos of yours yesterday, I hit the range today and wow!!! Was puring about 80%, compared to like 20% before… THANK YOU MR SAGUTO

  34. Sam Kessler says:

I’ve swung a golf club somewhat inconsistently over the last 5 years and
for the first time in my life I feel like I finally have my own swing. Your system works. This sht actually fkn works if you put the time in. Love the impact drill. Wish all the best to you Tom.

  35. Best hair in golf!

  36. bob pues says:

    This is so good, Tom!!

  37. Joe Gotz says:

I had a conversation with someone about the baseball swing and the golf swing. I played softball for years and batted cleanup. I could hit a softball a mile. My friends asked me why I don’t hit a golf ball the same way. Here is a quote from Hank Aaron why the golf swing is not the same. “It took me 17 years to get 3,000 hits in baseball. It took one afternoon on the golf course." Aaron had quick hands and wrists. Not good for golf unless you want to scoop the ball.
Watch Tom Saguto hit a 7 iron 185 yards or more with his swing. As my friend Harry Williams would say, “Pay attention, you might learn something”. He was 86.

  38. Joe Gotz says:

meanwhile I’m watching the guy in the background!

  39. Jon Hendrie says:

Great video Tom. Do you use or recommend oversized grips?

  40. Jeff Harris says:

Tom, how do you prevent hitting shots that are extremely low with this method? I can do this and get good contact and compression, but the ball will fly super low. How do you hit the ball higher?

  41. Jim Sherblon says:

I just tried this drill at the driving range. Started with the pitching wedge at a flagstick for PW yardage. First two balls landed a few feet from the flag, then the next one hit the stick! Hit some other irons mostly pure. Then, I pulled out my 4 wood. I've struggled with it for a long time. Bam! Started launching high draw bombs. Amazing.

  42. That One Guy says:

Tom was here 10 days ago. That’s how advanced this is.

  43. Brent S says:

I also bend my left knee straight ahead on the backswing, what a Difference ,the ball goes high and and far.Unbelievable

  44. Denis S. says:

A few years ago I hit 14 of 18 greens in regulation, and never made a birdie putt, and shot one over 73. 😂😂😂😂😂
