Thank you sir for your informative videos. We just finished our lifestyle visit. It was awesome! Phil not only showed us homes, he gave us a history on The Villages. Phil took us to every area in The Villages. This allowed us to make our OWN INFORMED decision. He did not push us to by “new or pre-owned”. He did not push us to buy at all. It was such a well-rounded exploration/vacation, that we were able to decide The Villages is definitely where we want to be for our retirement years. The people were friendly and welcoming. And for those worried about diversity? We had an incredible experience. We were welcomed and encouraged to contact our new friends if we needed anything or had any questions. The Villages is everything and more than we hoped for!

  2. LOL Zaxbys should pay you for airing their commercial on the monitor in the background. 💵 🐓

  3. Thanks for addressing my question! Good topics, good session!!

  4. Rusty, I would like to find someone in the Villages who knows a lot about Adobe lightroom and photoshop for a Mac. Have you run into anyone I could hire to get me up to speed? I used to use premier pro and Lightroom. It just changed faster than I could keep up with. We really enjoy your videos. Part of what led us to the Villages

I know not everyone feels this way but I am a proponent of solar energy. I became that way after I went through hurricane Ian when I lived in Englewood Florida. We had 150 mile an hour winds which knocked out the power to our neighborhood for 2 weeks. I had recently installed a system and not only did it stay put on the roof, But many people lost what was in their refrigerators and freezers due to the prolonged power loss. We never had that. So when I moved up here one of the first things I did was get a solar system and I have 2 Tesla power banks. I also put extra panels on for the pool I want to have at some point. ARC has no jurisdiction to stop you from placing a solar system. It's Florida law. And I asked about what happens if I need a new roof and for $100 per panel they will take them off and put them back on.
The hurricanes generally mid state are not as bad as where I was on the coast but the weather patterns are changing and I just don't want to be caught with no power. It is pretty devastating as my neighbors found out. Sorry this is so long.

  7. Hey Rusty … just watched your latest video. Got a good laugh out of the birds mating behind you. Had a thought, instead of playing random screen saver type videos you should play local advertising videos and generate yourself some additional revenue. (No need to post, just thought I’d pass along the idea. If you do, let me know would be interested in advertising our local bike shop)

That is a bad thing about living in a senior area when you live in a regular population and you are a senior they take you fast and if it is chest pains that get right to you

  9. Ronald Hall says:

What no Oscar Mayer wiener car dam that's a deal breaker for me. But for real you got rules up front if you don't agree just move on. Really it's just that simple

I drive a Tesla Model Y. Road trips are easy-peasy! The supercharger network is vast and reliable. I have driven from New Jersey to The Villages several times and have had no issues. Finally, EV batteries are 95% recyclable. No lithium ends up in landfills.
Considering that my electric bill for the car is $1.25 a day, and I never need a tuneup, oil change, transmission work, a new muffler, or a brake job (the electric motors help stop the car, extending the life of the brake pads), I will never go back to gasoline again.😊

  11. Thank you for pointing out the obvious regarding deed restrictions. Geez, why can’t people just follow the rules 🤷‍♀️

  12. Now that we’ve had the bird lesson….waiting on the bees 😅

  13. Deed Restrictions YES keep the ambience of The Villages.

The stickers on the mail-slots are really tacky looking IMO. Hope the owners remove them before selling on.

    Excellent, as always! Thank you.

  17. Hi Rusty.
I really enjoy your videos. I am coming down to The Villages in November for a day tour. Looking forward to meeting Shane from the sales office.
Will arrange a Lifestyle visit for April 2024. I can’t wait.
Thank you for all you great videos.

  18. I love my Teslas! I’ll give you a ride and convince you to switch.

Good informative video this week. Glad you're having fun. You're 100% right – buy if you want to live in the community, not because you want to live in your house 🙂 Thousands of things to do, holing up in your house wastes all that opportunity.

Great videos. Just curious can people put in artificial grass instead of having to have sprinklers and maintaining a lawn? Also I'm dying to try pickleball! Also what's the deal with the palmetto bugs aka roaches? Are they an issue?

  21. Billy Fine says:

Solar panels are a scam. My son rents a house with them and gets charged from a solar company for the power they produce. Not the cost of them, what they produce. So solar isn't free!

  22. Laura Lampe says:

    Thanks for the information Rusty!

  23. Terry Chan says:

Re: Solar panels. I have seen some realtors on YouTube telling that some Florida insurance companies are now not wanting to insure homes with solar panels because of the addition expenses for storms & hail damage to them. Also if you need a new roof you have to pay about $1500-2000 to remove it & about the same amount to put it back on new roof. This is also another reason Florida insurance companies are frowning on roof solar panels, should there be a hurricane and they need to replace a roof with solar panels. Check with insurance companies before adding solar panels.

Thanks for the video Rusty but I have a question.

I wanted to bring my old British sports car over and just work away on it inside the garage. It wouldn’t be visible from the street at all.

Surely all the guys that show their classic cars off at the squares must tinker away on them to get them ready.

    Thanks

  25. It looks like birds mating. I did notice that!

  26. Thank you Rusty for advocating for dogs that are walked on hot pavement. Many new residents come from states that don't experience such high temperatures.

  27. I totally saw that and thought does he know he has bird pron on. Thanks for the info… not bird but the other stuff.

  28. Excellent show! I had a local landscaper install a pair of trellises in my backyard. The work was ARC approved but the height of the trellises exceeded the height of my back wall much to the disapproval of my neighbors. Eventually I had the company lower them. Not sure if ARC was aware of the height of the wall and trellises when the work was approved.
Great info on the prescription drugs at the doctors office. I take a photo of my prescriptions with my phone and store them in my favorites for quick access. Keep up the good work!

Hey thanks for addressing my postal station sticker question! So it’s “tchotchkes” on the mailboxes ?? 😄📫

  30. People mainly need to realize the DURATION of the heat down there. Because you can look at the average high for July, see that it is 91 degrees, and think it's no big deal, because places like Kansas City and St. Louis have average highs of 89 in July. BUT… the big difference is the number of days it is hot. The Villages averages 104 days per year over 90 degrees, while Kansas City and St. Louis only average 35. That's nearly TRIPLE the number of days over 90 degrees per year.

  31. Noreen N says:

Hi Rusty, the mating birds, lol.

  32. FloridaClay says:

Rusty, you might want to make clear that if you want a fenced-in back yard, the developer has homes that come equipped with that, for Villas, it's "Courtyard Villas," and for "Designer Homes," they are called "Veranda Homes." You just can't install fences in other types of homes that do not come with that feature.

  33. Hahahaha…I saw the birds and wondered if you'd catch that. Also, how do you REALLY feel about yard art 😂 😉 We went to check out other 55+ communities in Central FL and we felt none compared to TV as far as vibrancy, number of activities, etc. The other communities seemed like any other neighborhood anywhere else with a pool and community building.
