This is how to Strike Your FAIRWAY WOODS and LONG IRONS

This golf lesson will show you how to nail your fairway woods and long irons. Whether you want to stop topping your woods, learn to hit your wood and long irons off the ground or simply looking to hit your woods farther my hope is this golf lesson will really help.

It certainly did for a recent student of mine Nigel. He was struggling to get any height on his fairway woods and long irons. As a result he just didn’t hit the golf ball very far. We only had an hour golf lesson but it was more than enough time to make some really simple changes to his backswing and impact position that literally transformed his ball striking.

I’m sharing this video with you because when we have a club that we don’t like very much the faults and cures you are about to see are very common. I hope this golf lesson helps you as much as it did Nigel.

Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!

I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.

On YouTube and my personal website ( I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.

Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble

I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

This golf lesson provides a couple of wonderful drills to help you strike a ball with an iron. If you are looking for how to hit a ball straight with an iron, or want to know how to hit the ball first with irons then these golf drills will give you much better golf ball contact so that you can strike your irons pure.

I believe they are the easiest and best golf irons drills you can use

Also get to see the golf ball contact in slow motion

    1. You know someone is at the top of their game when you can listen to what they are teaching without having to watch. Thats how good Danny is. Dan the Man!

    2. I'm new to golf. Just started paying more attention to it. Of course I'm still struggling because I've been to the driving range probably 10 times only. But your videos has got me progress so much quicker than I expected. The fluidity of movement you're teaching is the key. How I wish I'm living in the same country as you. I probably could have a career in golf haha

    3. Weird! My corgi got into golf after this video!!

    4. Thank you Danny! 88 today. Down from over 100. This video fixed what I was doing wrong.

    5. Pat. Robert says:

Been to golf tried your swing better with 5 wood than 3 wood i will keep at it 👌

    6. Pat. Robert says:

Other fantastic video Danny. You sorted my driving out trying this tip tomorrow 💥💥💥💥💥 Patrick

    7. Quick question: when I start exploring different club paths, especially with irons when it gets too much in to out
for a big draw I often start shanking the ball and have difficulties recover. Any suggestions?

    8. Hi Danny I am enjoying your sessions but still feel I am forcing my shots to much shoulder any tips. Cheers mike

    9. Hi Danny, by far the best golf tuition I have seen and watching a lesson from you has become almost daily viewing, I also recommend you to everyone who likes to swing a club or spoil a good walk so thanks loads!
I have a question for you if you have the time, been playing a long time but had time off for a back op and trying to come back better, I might be about right but do you have a video regarding ball positioning in the stance per club?
I know the longer the club the closer to your leading foot the ball goes but I’m not sure if my mid iron set up is correct.
My wedge setup can differ if I want to try ( can’t emphasis TRY enough )
To get some check spin on the ball but my other irons I just setup where it feels comfortable and not sure if there is an average ‘best way’ to setup the stance for each club and if I could improve by changing something if needs be?
Would be great to get your take on it.
      Many thanks again, you’re a legend 😎👍🏌🏿‍♂️

    10. Hi Danny, was just wondering what kind of mic are you using for your videos? Many thanks!

    11. NB says:

Best golf video I’ve ever watched! That tip on finding that feeling of being powerful along with being relaxed in the swing is an absolute game changer!!

    12. absolutely brilliant Danny, thank you so much for this, I can't wait to give it a go this evening.

    13. JORDAN REESE says:

Danny I see the pros with the balls above their feet set up for a cut instead of playing the natural draw and allowing for it. What do you think?Love your instruction Danny and your videos. Keep up the great work. 👌👍💪

    14. Mike Weill says:

I agree with your teaching. I also found just widening my stance about a foot helped immensely. You are less likely to move forward or backward.

    15. ken roxburgh says:

      You changed my life. 👍🏻⛳️

    16. Amir Razvi says:

Wow! Simple yet so effective! Thanks mate!

    17. Mike D says:

Ah got it! Currently having these issues. Going to the range today with a plan.

    18. Gary Leyte says:

Excellent demonstration on swinging fairway woods! Thanks coach.

    19. Thank you so much for your videos!! I am a 9 days golfer and I am in love with the game. I watch all your videos and practice in my back yard. I definitely will fly out of New Orleans to come for some lessons. Thank you so much man!

    23. danh nguyen says:

great vdo, love it, let's go play

    24. Brilliant video Danny. Golf in a nutshell. Very well explained. One of the best I’ve ever seen on this subject which I have been struggling with recently. Now I understand completely where I was going wrong! Thank you. Maurice

    25. Hi Danny been told not to lift the right heal before I strike the ball ???

    26. Can I use that rubber duckie at the golf course when I am going to use that 3 wood? Haha just kidding .

    27. You don't own a pet store by any chance…

    28. Mike Haley says:

The difference between Danny’s instruction and most other instruction is the emphasis on “feeling” the strike as well as solid technique. The body DOES know what to do if we only allow it to “feel” the correct path.
Danny – you are my golf guru. I am essentially a 73-year old rookie but I am learning to think less, and feel more. Thank you.

    29. Earl Swinney says:

Turning your head away from the ball now has me back to swing from 60 years ago, brilliant.
Danny you are the teacher of the year.

    30. I would rather have a more pronounced left to right or right to left than the middle straight shot. It just seems like it is too fine and too difficult to execute.

    31. I'll get that Windows activated for you if you need a hand.

    32. Look at the sky, make the low point after the ball, follow through smoothly. Simple , superb

    33. what is your simulator setup?

    34. Super stuff Danny. I am starting to play golf shots and it is addictive.

    35. Andy Webb says:

Amazing vid, love it. Just bought a dog squeaker…

    36. Roger R says:

Thanks for the tips I hit my 5 wood better today than I have in years

    37. Oh my. Am trying to be back to golf after 17 years of shifting to another sports AND your instructions are DIRECT & ON POINT. Hat's off-I bow Danny.

    38. john gee says:

Why do you not spend more time. On people that are 60-70-80

    39. JW Friend says:

      Excellent sir. Thank you

    40. Great work Dan, your videos have improved my game and have given me new enthusiasm for golf. Keep up the good work….. From your biggest fan in Oz. Rob.

    41. One thing that no YouTube golf instuctor ever mentions is club head take away during the back swing. Follow a circular arc path and how sharp or shallow? Or take the club head back straight from the target line and for how long? In golf, the devil is always in the details.
