The KEY to Making Your Lawn Look Like a Golf Course is Mowing it with a REEL MOWER.
In this video, I cover the type of mower that is needed for this aesthetic and the company that just opened up shop here in the midwest.
The mower im using today is a Tru Cut Reel Mower. Throughout the last 4 years I have spent my time testing many different reel mowers including the toro greensmaster 1000 , Mclane Reel mower , swardman , and the allett reel mower . But NONE of them have been a good fit for me.
The Tru Cut Reel mower is the newest addition to my fleet of lawn mowers. A few things I like after a few days of testing is the all metal construction. Many residential reel mowers are made with an excessive amount of plastic parts. The tru cut is built like a TANK.
I will keep you up to date on a full review of this mower in the coming months.

reel mowers are totally impractical for average homeowner lawns… too much maintenance.
Hopefully osha did not see this vid with all those trip hazards o the floor
What type of grass does one need for this? It seems Kentucky tall fescue cut short will die.
Your lawn is not flat enough, big problem to fix.
I hear gary Indiana is nice this time of year
Used one when I was a kid mowing grass on golf course, nothing like it in the world
My lawn is 80% crab grass…will this make it look like a golf course ?….
Do you still have this mower?
did 3 years of lawn care but forgot an absolute ton of stuff going through different jobs, but remember methods, certain chemical names, how to maintain, but your channel brought it ALL back
A year later but what a badass video
TRUCUT has been sold off to Midwest Equipment.
Two things sir
#1 that American Flag 🫡🇺🇸
#2 thank you for the information you put out
Would it work on my lawn? It’s so uneven, it like trying to steer a rollercoaster.
I don’t play golf.
Good video!
California Trimmer
I work on a golf course lol. Looks really good btw
Aleet's have short handles for the Mexicans, because if they can afford the mower, they can afford a to have a gardener.
First time watching this channel, does this big guy alway wear 1 white and 1 black sock ? 😂
You know.! If your in the market for a real more and you have clients that have nice lawns to start with this true-cut is what you need to give your clients the opportunity to see how serious you are about your busines.!
This is RAD! The first time I mowed a lawn as a kid was with a reel mower…. MANUAL!
Those mowers work great but, if you want that golf course look, you'll need to be able to mow EVERY DAY or, at a minimum, every other day. It's not a once-a-week thing.
We had this type of mower when I was a kid in the early 70s and that was in Ontario Canada. Cut great, but weighed about 800lbs!
This is what's i looking for everything made in United States with parts made in United States mean a great guality products
Thanks a lot for sharing this 🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Best mower is a rowing mower
Man that is so cool 😎. I’m really excited and excited about my reel lawnmower and have been watching your videos. Thank you. I dethatched my front yard with one of your recommended products. Amazing what came up
Some people like doing that. I grew up in the country. Mowing was just anther chore. Still hate it.
Oh I know how to make it grow. Just don't any reason to deliberately make it grow so I can do what I don't like more often.
Does not make my self appointed HOA neighbors happy. Don't like me letting the grass go to seed in the spring.
Do not fertilize and just mulch it. I also DO NOT bag it.
Why because I also don't want to spend money on water. If you let it go to seed the roots grow deeper.
If you water it they don't need to. I also hate playing golf.
But if you like it. Do what I don't do. The self appointed HOA pissed me off so I cut it to 2 inches. Did not need to mow it for a month.
It is a nice color of yellow now. Also the dry season is just around the corner. If it was still 6 inches. It would be green.
That dogs like the part I left green for them. Under the ( Ailanthus altissima ) Chinese Sumac in the back yard.
Ailanthus altissima is a invasive giant weed.
You're from the Chicago area? Good to know.
Great job 👍🏽 Great American made mower, great quality, love it 🇺🇸🇺🇸
So when you said you took the wife to tour the factory I had to subscribe!
My man! First off I used to tease the NB old guys , well here we are . I appreciate a made here product ! Great review of a solid machine
I love my tru cut….older but still cuts well.
As a kid in the 70's in PA, I remember a lot of reel-type mowers. It was obvious even to a kid that the grass was cut better with such mowers. I even remember using my grandpa's PUSH style reel mower! Then I started seeing more and more of the flat blade mowers – I presume they became the home standard due to lower cost. In my young teens I started golfing and observed nothing but reel-type mowers on golf courses. Seems to me it's obvious why golf courses use them – better results on the grass.
Reel mowers are the "real" deal! Hope they can come up with a battery powered version. My wife is very sensitive to petroleum products.
I have the tru cut 27 and it is the best mower ever. I live in the south and get it sharpened 3x per year
You sound like you know what you are talking about, your videos are interesting. That said, the more I see and hear what we need to do to have a good looking lawn, the more I'm convinced to dig it all up and replace my lawn with Pro-Turf artificial grass. I live in TX and 90% of my annual water usage is pissed away just trying to keep your lawn alive in the summer…not green, just alive. We're on water restrictions every year and water is more precious than oil in TX. Golf courses SB forbidden to use natural grass, it's a travesty how much water is wasted for a stupid, boring game.
Between fertilizer, mowing, mower costs, weed prevention, leveling, raking, etc, etc, etc we should all be able to cost justify the artificial alternative. PLUS it looks perfect 365 day per year.
