When You Just Want To Go Back Home….

We’ve all had those days where if feels like everything you touch breaks or goes wrong one way or another right? I hate those days ๐Ÿ˜ The good thing is they don’t come along that often. In this video I thought I’d show you how to bang out a set of rear shocks on the back of a Nissan Altima and then rust happened….. ughhh gotta love salty NY.
-Enjoy!

  16. "Looks like an easy one" Famous final words.

  17. BeachBum says:

I wondered why you were taking the shock back off, like "maybe he didn't like how the nuts went back on? snapped another stud?" Then I saw the cap and burst out laughing.

I just love it when I button something up, turn around, and see a part on the ground that went on about ten fasteners and three parts ago. At that point you just take a short walk and refill the coffee cup, and try very very hard not to even think about throwing something.

You need some lady time. That's all. LOL

I never second guess your work Eric, and I'm watching, thinking "surely he's going to use penetrating fluid on those nuts"………. I feel for you buddy, I've had many days like that. You conquered though, and Mrs O is always going to make things better ๐Ÿ‘

  25. Eric Kelly says:

Eric what do you recommend nowadays Iโ€™ve purchased aftermarket shocks and they suck complete garbage should I go back to OEM actually purchase from Honda l๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”

  26. D K says:

I know you work on rust buckets all the time but I wouldn't touch a vehicle in the salt belt with that kind of mileage. I would tell the owner that it could cost much more than the car is worth if rust related issues come up. That car with 279k has no value whatsoever.

Things happen Eric. We all have good days and bad days. I have days myself where it seems like everything I touch breaks but it is what it is. btw I picked up one of the Astro lights that you did the short review on, and man you weren't kidding, its an incredible piece of illumination engineering that's also awesome to use around the house. I never knew they existed until I saw your review. You have brightened my life.

A couple of beers, and a BJ should fix that day.

  30. I plan to harvest my old compressor from the refrigerator. Has anyone tried to shut close the lines with the help of hand held hydraulic crimp tool before cutting the lines. Is it going to work? I don't have a proper evac system.

    Mr. O,
I do not miss living in Western NY back in 1994 – 1997 when I went to college at Suny Geneseo and got my Biotech AAS at Monroe Community College in Henrietta, NY.
Worked Part time for Whaley Stock farm (Genesee brewery folks) in Scottsville, Finger Lakes racetrack as a groom and 2 years as a yard dog for Chase-Pitkin.
I remember pulling my 1990 f150 5 spd transmission to replace the eccentric slave cylinder on that Mazda tranny in November out in the front yard. Those tools were almost frozen working on that sheet of plywood.
Loved the area and the hills, valleys, lakes and farms out the Lavonia, NY area.
Just remember my personal note to me to never get sick and tired at the same time when making decisions, which usually came out poor with me without talking to a good friend…it will pass.

  38. Aaron Koivu says:

Nissan and Ford are the rust buckets in the car world. Working in the rust belt for over 25 years your best friend is the hot knife/wrench, Eric got bit by the Nissan shock

  39. John Morin says:

You sound very convincing IF I CAN DO IT YOU CAN DO IT listen mister your worst days are 100% better than mine YOUR TOPS IN MY BOOK I learn a lot from you even when things go BONKERS… THANKS 101 POINTS… HANDS DOWN

  40. STABLEBUM1 says:

Mama said there would be days like this!

  41. Ted Tedness says:

You should ALWAYS spray a RIV nut with Fluid Film and seal both sides from salt water/rust.

  42. namoric says:

Going to sound like a bad country song but it's just been that way here, too. Freezer started leaking, had to pull that apart and clean the drain even though it's a "serviceable by technician only" then my little one said there's water dripping from the A/C vent upstairs – LITERALLY THE SAME DAY so I crawl my ass up in the 800 degree south-georgia attic to find the PVC drain for the condensation has just… broke. cracked at the corner, so I fix that and then two days later one of our dogs died.

    So just …. emotional.

  43. Man period classic

  44. Dave Dennis says:

Rainman Ray woulda snapped that nut off. Get over it. Mrs O is the queen wife. "What's REALLY wrong? NOTHING!" Great woman right there. Better keep her LOL.
I would think in the rust belt that snapped of bolts and nuts would be a daily event. JS

  45. How did the owner decide she needed shocks? Rather than the service it needed.
I get it from Ericโ€™s perspective- just do what youโ€™re asked to but this thing canโ€™t be more than a year or two from the crusher?
