The argument over the Quest was wild, here's the story – https://youtu.be/uvcWjugAA5k QUESTION – What has changed about cruising that you miss the most?
This is the problem Tony as you say so yourself your experience only goes back to 2017 so in fact yu do not have the experience as you know very little about how cruise lines used to be especially before they were taken over an t=ruined by US cruise lines. So in fact you know very little f hw cruise Ines used o operate as yu say so yourself.
I forgot about the skeet shooting and the hitting golf balls out into the ocean. It was 1990 on a Royal ship. It was a huge huge hit. Even got pictures. I always thought it was a bit weird that the skeet shooting was pointing right in the direction of Cuba. And as for golf, they strapped you into a harness that was attached to the ship and then you belted it out into the ocean, like right at the edge of the top deck. I think the golf club was on a safety device to keep you from flinging into the ocean. But by the time we went on a cruise 9 years later, all that was gone. Now they do painting classes which in my opinion, is much more of a sane idea. No accidental losing the painting over the edge. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. What a great report.
We cruised the original Mardi Gras, miss the midnight buffet, ice sculptures, winning the quest, chocolate buffet, remember hitting golf balls off the aft, watched skeet…..oops this dates me doesn’t it ! 😂🛳️
My first Carnival cruise was in 1995, the dining rooms filled with fantastic food, midnight buffets, cabin services twice a day with chocolates on your pillow, amenities in your bathroom including a basket with items you might have forgotten to bring with you, free room service, no specialty restaurants which you didn't need, wonderful production shows, no nickel and diming although I have to say that Carnival is not as bad as other cruise lines, and I forget what else. Cruising was the ultimate experience back then. Today, cruising has evolved just like society has. There were no angry/nasty people everywhere like there is today. The ships weren't as large. My first was on the Carnival Fantasy, and I loved that ship. It was the perfect size. Carnival is not the only cruise line that has made changes either. Every major cruise line has made changes necessary to accomodate the massive number of people sailing on these megaships. Just got to roll with it.
I understand but I miss the table cloths in the MDR.
I just saw the quest show in April on Vista
I was able to get delicious pizza on Carnival to Mexico in the Pacific after midnight post pandemic.
I did one cruise this year with rrc and tried to book one one carnival for next year, which I canceled. I am sorry, but the cruising after covid doesn't impress me anymore. I also have the kind of a " being ripped of feeling" the prices are getting out of control. it's not for me anymore
Use to be able to bring alcohol on from ports and take straight up to your room.
Our first Cruise was in 2000 on Royal Caribbean's Nordic Empress for our 25th wedding anniversary; YES! There was an amazing Midnight Buffet 😊
I miss towel animals 😢
I love Carnival, they make everyone else look fckng amazing.
Quest is still done, but not as often. Generally it is at the CD's discretion.
I remember the midnight buffet and even the late night chocolate buffets! 🍫 ❤
I had an experience similar to the midnight buffet at Royal on the Monarch. Thay had bread, fruit and chocolate sculptures. You walked around the tables taking pictures and then wait outside until you were allowed to go back in and eat. Can't remember how they call it.
Not only the things mentioned that Carnaval don’t do anymore but it also doesn’t honor the pricing for the , shore excursions. For example, on the Carnaval Panarama, a short excursion for salsa and salsa used to be $40. Now that same excursion is $100. It’s almost like Carnaval is screaming to his passengers who are so committed like me saying we need to pay off billions of dollars in debt people come on stop complaining we know you’re getting the same thing, but paying more than double but complaining doesn’t solve anything stop being negative. I don’t know about you, but Disneyland and Carnaval have something in common 🤪and that is sooner or later you’re going to price yourselves out of the market. Because the ones who have taken those excursions are going to be weeded out sooner or later😂😂
Glad they are bringing back a few food options back to the late night munchie session. My last cruise they said Pizza would be done by midnight. So glad they are making it late night.
Back in the day they shot skeet from the aft end of the ship. They stopped shooting skeet on new ships with aft cabins since most people on their aft balcony didn’t want to be rained on by lead pellets or hear the shooting. And the environmental issue of lead in the ocean.
Just got back from a cruise to Mexico on Carnival Miracle, they still had the Quest game in the Mad Hatters room during our trip
2009 they had the midnight buffet
I hear quest is coming back and will be on my October cruise
Norweigion had a full midnight buffet in Feb. 2023. And they had a buffet that ended at midnight in Oct. 2021 on Carnival Sunrise
I was on the pride two weeks ago and they still had the Quest. And the Panorama in Feb also had the Quest.
