  1. I have a Prodigy FX-2 Air in 400 plastic that I bought last fall. It works well for me for fairway/midrange shots (including rollers), doesn't have that plastic breakdown problem, and….no flashing!

I have a few problems with prodigy discs. The naming system doesn't make sense. I had an F2 (750 plastic) i loved, but it was a hyzer flip understable discs. Only one step up is the f1 which was more of a teebird. What happens if you want to make a new over stable 7 speed? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
The other thing is the flashing. That f2 and a cale leviska m4 in 400 that I got well used had no flashing. I have haven't found a single disc from them outside of those without flashing. I've sanded flashing off some of their discs I've tried, flew just fine. Just annoying. I will bag discs from them, if anyone ever finds my f2 and texts me (2 years, still holding out hope) I'll bag it again. Not sure id go out of my way to get a prodigy disc with all the amazing discs out there for each slot. But I wouldn't say no.

  3. Nicholas says:

My only gripe with prodigy is that they have both translucent as well as opaque versions for both 400 and 750 plastic that feel very different in hand. They could just have different acronyms at they end so that people don't assume they feel the same like myself.

  4. Thretau says:

I’m very surprised by the bad rep Prodigy has. I had no idea. It’s very popular here in Finland mostly because some of the most popular players from Finland like Väinö Mäkelä and Seppo Paju are throwing Prodigy. I have bought multiple Prodigy discs in the past 4 years and never had any issues with them

  5. Jono says:

It’s interesting to see some good press. I have bought two Prodigy discs in the past, both GB Rookie of the Year D1’s and one of them has a straight up knife edge with its flashing.
I’m glad their production is improving, I am liking their art director more as time goes on as well. The FX3 has my interest now

I work at a disc golf retailer and I can say from my experience nobody buys prodigy. I mean in the past year I’ve only had about 10 people ask me to help them find a certain prodigy disc. The new spectrum air discs look pretty good and when a newer player asks me for a beginner friendly disc I’ll hand them a f7 but other than that it’s crazy. We sell a ton more thought space than prodigy and they don’t put the flight numbers on the discs, they also have less of a selection of molds. And are less known.

  7. Brice Rosa says:

    I love my A2. Also have a H7 and D2 in bag.

  8. Please do a video on TSA's offerings! Specifically the Mantra/Pathfinder-both are absolute workhorses and are criminally underrated.

  9. truce11 says:

Good video effort, but in multiple stores in East TN and NW GA – I still find frequent flashing. The 300/350 PA-3 and spectrum line in 300 is nice though. I'm at point of not even looking at the premium plastics, but I'll look again at the new designed Prodigy discs if I ever see them in stores. The Made in China & Made in USA oof was cute

  10. Mando Brown says:

I think anyone who likes spending time on the Infinite Discs site knows Prodigy has good discs despite the flashing complaints. I think the real reason people, myself included, don't throw Prodigy is because Innova amd Discraft discs are more available, both new and used, easier to trade and sell to other people, and just a hair cheaper without compromising variety of discs. Why get an FX3 when you can get a variety of new and used Innova Vikings or Valkyries? Even though Innova and Discraft have their inconsistencies, they're still consistent enough for people to feel satisfied with just their discs.

  11. Erik Green says:

Flashing is good for protecting the discs those first throws 😉

My FX-2's (500 and 400), H1v2, H3v2 all had flashing… But the PA-1 Otso 3, PA-3 stock, and PX-3 Shusterick in 500 have none. I think there is a breaking point in their quality control during the last 2 years, I don't know how they did it but I love my new PA-3, keep finding it nearby the midranges near the drivers ;P

The Duraflex F Model S, P Model S, P Model US have slight to none flashing at all, the used FX-4 I have seems more stable than this FX-3 though xD

I'd love to see some coverage of Streamline – MVP's overmold-less, smaller lineup. I think there are some gems there, like the Pilot, Stabilizer (zone-ish clone), Ascend, and Trace.

  13. 4DWyn says:

Prodigy is the red headed stepchild (probably an outdated phrase but you know what I'm saying) of disc golf and I don't understand why. I've never had a bad experience throwing F5, H5, and D3. I don't know why they get so much hate beyond the issues outlined and even then, I don't see any reason why those distractions should deter me from throwing more. I love your channel because you keep it real, and flight numbers don't matter. That's why I was never bothered by the naming conventions because it was easy to follow. And people who trash Prodigy's naming convention but love Discmania are toxic hypocrites

  14. John Raburn says:

Manufacturers I have in the bag MVP,Axiom,Innova,Lat 64, Millennium, DGA, Lone Star and Discraft. My reasons for not trying Prodigy is every company has basically every shot needed so why spend more money on simply another Destroyer for example and the other reason is for many years I have heard so many complaints about the company and their product. I hope they have great success in the future but for me It's a pass. Thanks for the great video.

  15. Joe Blow says:

Prodigy has some fine discs, as good as many others. But while you see the “made in China” as a change for the better, it’s a deal breaker for me. $4.00 more for a made in the US or Europe or New Zealand disc is doable. The US used to have a great manufacturing base, giving people lots of good jobs. But then corporations moved manufacturing overseas so they could make more money. Many towns’ economies declined and became a shell of what they used to be, the standard of living dropped for former employees while corporate executives make more money than ever and, more recently, it cause us to be with out many supplies during the pandemic. So, even though their discs are good and getting better, that’s a no sale for me. There’s plenty of good stuff that isn’t outsourced to China, and we should support them.
And, oh yeah, I have a hard time believing they’ll pay Gannon what he is worth.

  16. I bought my first prodigy disc about 3 weeks ago. I got an F7 in 400 plastic and it had zero flashing. Honestly, I was expecting the worst due to all the bad press prodigy gets. The plastic actually feels fantastic, and felt better than several innova discs I’ve held in stores lately. The innova discs had a lot of flashing, especially on the champion plastic. Overall the most impressive thing for me about prodigy, was the fact that the disc flew true to the flight numbers.

  17. MrSTAYUP33 says:

prodigy still has flashing. store by me has a ton of prodigy and while some feel good, quite a few still have flashing

  18. BigAl69 says:

I would rather buy discs that do not need to be outsourced overseas to be made correctly. Great video though

  19. I have a 400 M4 that I like, but it’s the only prodigy disc I use. They just feel kinda sleezy the way they handle things and I don’t feel like supporting them.

  20. Prodigy has some of my favorite plastic. I hate their naming convention though.

  21. Algorithm DG says:

I have a 500 pa5 I have been trying to get out of my bag but it's just too smooth, perfect understability for me. I can't get any other premium putter to flip over like it.

  22. Caleb Thomas says:

    Prodigy FX-3 is moneyyyyy

  23. DE Straiton says:

I have an old Catrina Allen F-7. My go to hyzer-flip and roller disc

  24. I love your videos. I hate prodigy. Too much competition to have to settle for them.

  25. I'd love to see a vid like this on Millennium Discs. Everyone knows the Draco thanks to Calvin, but there are some real gems in their lineup that don't get near the love they deserve.

  26. Love the video. Ill keep hating prodigy products though. Their baskets are the worst in the entire industry and the cheap price tag for new discs comes at the cost of exploiting overseas labor.

I cant wait to see what Gannon does with equipment he believes in

  27. SR Discgolf says:

Do a Buzz disc review and all the differnces between the models os , ss and plastics.👍thanx for a great review
