Hi Mark I’ve been watching your great videos for years and strike is indeed King. I tried a ladies driver shaft in my m2 recently as I’m 63 soon and have lost speed obviously. I’ve gained a few yards due to finding middle more often and the soft feel is amazing !

Actually makes perfect sense. I'm thinking my slice could be down to standing too close to the ball and thus coming out the heel now 😞

  3. Mr. Crossfield I tend to hit my irons straight my big problem is I hit the 5, 6 and 7 irons about the same distance any suggestions on how I can fix that?

This was a real eye-opener for me. I took up golf last year, I've had lots of lessons and spent plenty of time at the range. I have made pretty decent progress in most areas but I couldn't stop hitting big slices with my driver and despite several lessons where we worked on set-up, club path, angle of attack, face to path etc I was still struggling with 70% of my drives finishing on the wrong fairway. Strike was not mentioned at all in the lessons. Saw this video and went to the driving range and guess what? I find that I am consistently hitting the ball with the heel of my driver. So I set up an inch or two further from the ball and aim to strike the ball with the toe of my driver. What happens is that I actually start to hit the sweet spot and no more big slices! Magic!

    Thanks Mark!

You are AWESOME need help with Aliment. I understand line face of club to target , and then body. Now ?? Are feet , hips, and shoulders now parallel to target?? or do you pay say more attention to arc? Or is this just something I need to play with and see what happens like closing club face or Opening club face .. I see the arc but I am facing way right most of time

How about the LIE regards strike.I have Mizuno clubs and thinking about Ping, did a PING online fitting ended up with 1,5 upright, but Mizuno is already -1,5 flatter compared to Ping, how important is Lie.I'm afraid I get a to upright swing, is it better to have a lower lie? Don't just answer go se a fitter, if I'm used to a club I will probably swing according to old club, which might not be best and I end up with bad fitting anyway.

  7. +Mark Crossfield, brilliant. Never heard it explained soooo simply!! Makes perfect sense to me

You describe me to a "T". I've always worked on the path of the club. Keen to get out there and try what you are suggesting. Thanks so much.

    Mark… thanks for the tip..

  11. Hey Mark, how many balls would you recommend hitting in order to effectively determine your consistant strike pattern? Thanks. 🙂

  12. Participant says:

I understand why the ball would go left with a heel strike and right with a toe strike: because the club is angled that way. What I don't get is why these strikes would then call the ball to move right and left respectively in flight.

Great vid by the way, I'm off to pick up some foot spray!

More great advice Mark. I discovered this by accident when practicing at the end of last summer, lining up from toe side of centre helped me develop a nice baby draw that I can rely on 🙂
