I googled it and thought you may find this interesting.
Generally speaking, the word “copain” is slightly less formal than “ami”. Thus, “un bon copain” could translate to “a good buddy” or “a good pal”. Explained slightly differently, “ami” could refer to a more serious lifelong friend, whereas “copain” could a more casual friend or even a good acquaintance.❤
Beautiful vlog, Ali, and so well edited. As someone who sews and tailors as a hobby, making jackets, etc., for myself & husband, I loved that you opened up your bespoke Souter & Hicks jacket to share the lining.
Of all things, I have an American question for you that I hope you’ll get a chuckle out of. I love watching pro bike racing—Tour de France, Giro d’ Italia, etc.—and almost every other word is a metric number for distances and speeds. So I’ve been working on multiplying those by .6 to get an approximate conversion. My Canadian friends taught me a complicated trick to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit. Alas, it’s too confusing, so I printed a conversion chart 🙄.
So, at the end, on the Par 3, just as the pro was approaching her ball to putt in, you said she had about “a foot” to putt it in. Do you use “foot” to mean 30-ish centimeters then? Similarly, do you use “yard” to mean a meter?
Sadly, back in the early ‘70s, when the USA and Canada came up with a plan to convert to the metric system, Canadians excelled at it and succeeded. We pathetic (lazy?) Americans failed miserably.
I’m a decent golfer, and I think I shall try talking metric in my next round and see what kind of laughs I get 😂.
