On the Callaway Edge option, instead of the TM 60 wedge you should add a Callaway Mack Daddy CB wedge. Will match the shape of the Edge irons better.
Hi, great video. It looked like the D9 irons set in option 1 also came with a PW and a GW, which would reduce down the wedge cost if you even needed to buy a single further wedge 🙂
Mizuno STX 220 driver is $199.99 on numerous online sites. That extra $100 could have been used for more gear.
Really valuable information, but….
What about left hand golfer?
… What about left hand woman golfer?
🤷🏻♂️
Great video again, Gabe. Keep them coming 👍.
Buying used clubs is a way better option than any of these, these arent bad, but the you can get way better quality clubs for cheaper going used. Takomo irons are a steal though.
Giga m410 irons- $475
Give 3&4 Pursuit Hybrids-$119
52 and 56 S2 wedges- $99
There's $593. But..they have fairly regular sales of 15-25%.But $500 worth and get a free bag.
Take the rest of the budget and get what you can of a really nice driver and putter.
would that the direct to consumer set out of those options
On the Callaway Edge set build I would recommend a 48-52 degree gap wedge instead of 60 as their PW is 44 and SW is 54 so you have a big gap there , plus most high handicap players struggle with the 60 degree
“Most expensive hobby” This guys never owned a race car 😂
Hi Gabe, great choices and options. This is a video many people need to see. For me and your choices I think the shipping cost would be too much but maybe have something like this here in Thailand.
Can you do a bracket of the number 1 driver for the past drivers to modern drivers. I think it would be a great way to show that you don't have to buy new to have a great driver.
Last year I built my first “expensive” bag. PXG irons, Cleveland wedges, custom Sub70 driver/woods, custom sub70 putter. Played pretty good but started hooking irons and swing fell apart. Started hitting an old set of free ping eye 2 coppers with no driver, a free old 2 ball putter, and a beat out $30 vokey wedge. Immediately shot low 80s. Bought a set of Srixon Z945 blades for fun last week for $200. Gamed them Friday evening with 0 range time and shot 78 (best score ever). Not janking on new equipment but it’s really REALLY the archer and not the arrow 🤷🏼😂 plus course management.
Great video Gabe! I’m an 8 handicap. I would like to get a new set of irons and have been looking at the Takomo’s,but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Is there much difference in distance and dispersion between the 101 and 101t’s ?
It’s probably apples and oranges, but I would get a 5 or 7 wood instead of a hybrid. Easier to hit for me.
From the 4 options that you presented what would be your best driver, hybrid, irons, wedges, and putter. And might have to stretch the budget. Thanks
Loved the DTC set…..looks very interesting…..actually 3 of the 4 had me wondering if i should get an extra set….lol…great video….cheers from Canada
I purchased one of the SGS GigaGolf wedges a few years ago, and it is like a more traditional wedge. This spring I ordered new irons from GigaGolf, and on the wedges I went with the S2, which are slightly bigger with a cavity back notch, and I have to say I like those even better. On the rest of the irons, I went with the m410's, which I really like. I found GigaGolf a few years ago, when I was looking to get back into golf, and I needed custom irons, since I'm 6'5", and I didn't want to have to shell out $1,500.00 or more on custom irons. I've been really pleased with their irons anyways. I've had two different sets from GigaGolf, and will likely order those forged irons in a couple of years as well. Hopefully, you will try out their c510 forged irons for a review at some point?
I bought the Stix set when I returned to golf. The performance, ease of use, and forgiveness was phenomenal. The only thing I didn’t like about them were the feel and weight distribution (felt overly light and club heads felt extremely light) and the sound were a little high pitched to me. The driver and 5-W performance was much better than you’d expect from a package set IMO.
I’ve since upgraded to the G430 line with PLD Anser 2 putter and Vokey wedges, but for a small increase in performance, feel, and aesthetics, I paid over three times as much. Food for thought, especially if budget is a concern.
Lastly, the customer service at Stix is phenomenal. I bought my son-in-law a set as well. When his arrived, he had a small ding on the driver. He emailed Stix a picture and had a new driver in three days. He broke one of the irons. Same thing, new iron in three days. No questions asked, just send them a picture. If you want a set that looks good and performs well without breaking the bank, I highly recommend these.
chilling at around a 16 hcp rn and the Wilson d9s are amazing, well struck 7i will happily go 200yrds and super forgiving.
Bermuda wedges aren't even available it says on amazon.

I have the edge set and it’s brilliant
Tour Edge. E 722. And C 722. Good value for a set of Irons
Great Video. But I love Tour Edge. Great quality. 👍🏽
FYI – on the PXG site there’s an overstock section where u can find deep discounts on older models.
My only thing is that after tax you’re adding probably another $100-$200 and that’s if if shipping is free for all of them. Great video still!
