I'm struggling with toeing my fairway woods, I've never been able to hit fairway woods well. I either crush them amazing (1 out of 10) or hook, or off to the right, or top it.
One of the last parts of the longer game i need to tidy up.
Matt, what is the reason for a “slight tilt?” I haven’t set up like that before with the woods. I tend to lean slightly toward the target so weight stays that way, but do you think a slight tilt away from target is better?
It’s called a fairway wood not a rough wood lol
Thanks!
it better fairway woods by hitting 7 irons! love it =D
THX a million will try the 2 ball for sure . Stugling now with follow through with driver
Interesting Matt, I like the two ball concept. On a different note with the ball in the little divot could you use a rescue for that type of lie?
I have a handicap of 20.4 and can hit my 5 wood pretty good from the fairway, however I can’t seem to get my 3 wood any further and struggle to get any height with it, any suggestions would be a great help.
How do you get a better rise of driver off the deck? I can still hit it well but if I could get rise with a 8 degree driver I know if I increased loft with the driver but then my drives spin up too much
Matt you are one of my favorites on YouTube. You keep it real and you keep the instruction simple. And lets face it your quite enjoyable to watch. Love the content
Lie dictates the shot
Depending on the rough and the lie a hybird is a great club out of the rough at times.. not the tall stuff, and if the ball is teed up in the grass be careful because they hybird gets it in the air quick.
Started the season hitting my fairway wood really well (which was fortunate because my 4i and 5i are shocking). Recently I've started slicing my fairway wood and I've no idea how. Doing all these things and getting good contact 🤔
Where should the divot be in relation to the ball?
Thanks for tips I have a hit and miss relationship with my fairway wood. My biggest issue at the momemt is irons.
Is it strange that I hit my woods better than my irons?
People that hit fairway woods out of heavy right, don't get what fairway means. 😅
Love your content. Record breakers has been fun!
How about a video about hitting the same club different distances and what situations it makes sense to do so.
Matt you mentioned not hitting fairway wood from the somewhat higher grass would using a hybrid be a wise choice?
My 7w will get out of that rough. Low rocket.
Timely advice. I’m 77 years old and play a 5&7 wood while my partners hit long irons. I’ve once played a Callaway Devine Nine, from about 135 yds, my playing partners would say, “ are you playing your pitching wood” as the ball landed softly on the green. My problem is distance as my five wood only goes about 160. Thinking about adding a Callaway Rouge Max HL three wood. What do you think?
👌👌👌
You should have hit both golf balls
How about the same video only using a hybrid…what kind of lies are suited for a hybrid ?
Matt, I wouldn't recommend a slight tilt. An upright straight torso is way better, as it's the club face that brings the ball up in the air. Trust the loft. And you definitely avoid skulling that ball.
I always remember Tiger talking about taking a wee divot with his fairway woods. Man, does that help me!
Great lesson Matt thanks again.
Currently having a bit of a "purple patch" with my 5-wood – as I'm in my 60s it's a god-send.
Nice vlog Matt – cheers
Thanks mate, I’m close to retiring my fairway wood the way I’ve been hitting it 😂😂
iv just got the new mizuno n iv had a bad case of the tops. il be trying this for sure 👍👍👍🙌
1 thing for me is all my wedges seem to go very similar distances
50×54 both seem to go 100 yards and my 58 goes 80
Waaay overdrawing irons……and ironically the ones that sound and feel the best are the ones that end up 30-60 yards left of target😂
Great tips mate, any chance you can help me, I continue to hit left, not hooks but straight to the left, tried moving stance and rotation of hips open face and so on😢
First tip dont hit fairway wood gotcha.
I struggle with "almost" everything, so personal lesson needed. Come to norway and i'll buy you a beer ❤😂
Fantastic timing I had a disaster on the course with my fairway woods yesterday. Hoping this video has the answer
