Think with us amateur golfers its not play well and score badly, its do some things well and score badly. I know myself playing off 14 i'll have days when I hit every fairway but only hit one or two greens or vice versa.
Usually for me i'll hit the ball well but not hit the green and then i'm not getting up and down very often so I feel like Im playing well but not scoring when really I'm just glossing over the bad bits.
