Taylormade BURNER MINI DRIVER vs Taylormade Stealth 2+ Driver and Fairway Wood | Burner Mini Review

In this video, i test out the new Taylormade burner mini driver for 2023. The mini driver is a cross between a driver and a fairway and so can be played as a small and more controlled driver or can also be played as a larger more powerful 3 wood. This particular mini driver is a re-model of the original burner driver with a similar looking head, shaft and even headcover. How will it compare to the stealth 2 driver and 3 wood?

  1. Definitely agree that teeing this club low is absolutely key. Also people should plan on ditching the stock shaft. I have my 13.5 set at 12 degrees (which squares the face) with Hzrdus RDX 6.5 and it gives my ball speeds around 160, which is only a few MPH lower than my driver. But I like this because I hit a power fade with driver but the mini wants to go straight or slightly right-to-left, so it's a good counterpart to driver. Hitting off the deck works OK with a good lie, but it tends to squeeze left to right on those shots. I'm surprised you were able to hit the 11.5 so well of the deck, but good on ya.

  2. I bought an Aerotech 16* 260cc head and stuck it in a 43.5" Aldila NV shaft and I love it. I tee it low and play it like a 3 wood and while I of course lost a little distance compared with my Cobra BioCell driver, I can find the fairway so easily with it. I have a few "Shorts" of me hitting it, including a stinger with it.

Not to state the obvious, but this really does seem like a 2W. So, if you look at it that way, it makes sense that it sits between the driver and 3W. The real question then becomes, is there a big enough gap between driver and 3W in my bag to insert another club, or will I get enough added distance above 3W and with a tight enough dispersion compared to current driver to replace it in the bag. In my case, there's not that much room between 3W and driver, so I'd have to hit this and see what distance and dispersion I get.

  4. 100% on playing it like a 3W vs a Driver. Kept topping it when trying the usual tee up and driver motion, and once i hit it downward like a 3W it took off.

Very comprehensive pal. Interesting results even given the 14 degrees.

I tested and was getting around 2k spin, more distance and dispersion was crazy tight. I think it depends on the user. Like some people are good with their log wedge, me, but others can't hit it worth a damn.
