The 5 Best Junior Golfer Tips (Youth Golf Tips)

If you are a younger golfer, new to golf or have a junior golfer in your life, using these 5 great junior golf tips can help you get your game on the right track!

1. Practice Tips – younger golfers like to go out and practice their games, but practicing the right parts of their golf game can help even more. Chipping and putting are a great place to start

2. Driver Tips – this may sound hard to believe, but we never would tell a golfer not to swing fast…as long as they are in a good balance. One simple tip to maintain a proper balance would be to finish your golf swing with your knees touching.

3. Course Management – many times with new or younger golfers, telling them not to go for the pin is the most effective strategy. Instead, aiming for the middle of the green allows for margin of error and can help keep unwanted strokes off the scorecard. This is one of the best golf tips for kids who are just learning about course management.

4. Proper Evaluation/Stats – we tend to do our most evaluation after a bad round, but evaluating good or successful rounds can not only be more positive, but can help you see more of what you are doing right on those good days. Also, tracking some good simple stats like number of putts and drives that are “good enough” versus Fairways Hit, meaning the drive was in a position that was “good enough” to still effectively advance the ball.

5. Performance – when you’re golfing, or the young golfer in your life is golfing and you’re watching, it’s important to stay positive during the round. Unlike other sports, you don’t have a coach to utilize during the course of a round, so attitude is key.

Bonus for Younger Golfer Tips – One question – when you head to the first tee, have one question or swing thought in mind before you start your round, rather than chasing multiple thoughts and ideas when you get on the course. This clarity can be huge in the success of your round!

  8. I am a young golfer i hope to be in the us kids national open

  9. Great video and tips as all tips involve the young golfer developing higher mental skills associated with the game and their game getting better. Excellent tips on stats/evaluation as I shaved 25 strokes over past 3 years by tracking greens in reg, drives that permit desirable second shot, number of putts per hole, things right/wrong per hole such as sand trap, odd distance, proper layup, tried to be a hero, etc. so I can look back and see where things went well so I can do more of that, and where to make adjustments. I’ll keep my prior scorecards so next time I play I can reference where I excelled and where I screwed up. Great tip about middle of the green; Ben Hogan stated “the middle of the green is always in the same place.”

Very good video! I like what I heard Tiger say about hitting the driver: "Swing absolutely as hard as you can, under two conditions: 1. That you can maintain balance and 2. You can guarantee you'll hit the ball in the center of the club face!" 👍

  18. Good tips for the adults too.
