  1. David Cooper says:

You could see that you were far more consistent with the ping chipR than the Cleveland. The flight of the Cleveland was different with each strike whereas the flight was the same with each ball at different locations with the ping and you had more control of the strength after seeing the 1st ball hit from distance

  2. John Hunt says:

I just bought the Cleveland Chipper and wow what a game changer for me. I'm a terrible chipper but now I'm a lot more confident and my handicap should come down finally using the Cleveland

  3. David Cole says:

Seems like the Loft would make a huge difference on which club would perform better.. Simple bump and run Ping. Smart Sole when need more of a touch Chip/Pitch

  4. rhino mite says:

Can't wait to try mine, just received it and awaiting the weather to improve. I have tried the gimmick brands before and feel that Ping will be better, haha we all need help of some sort. I love the game soe mush I will continue to try new ideas as well as older ideas and absolutely have no problem being avg. 👍👍

  5. Alex Is says:

Already knew he was going to choose Ping, not because it's the better chipper but because of the name.

  6. Why didn't you test chipper against chipper? GW against chipper is two different shots.

  7. Howard Jones says:

Excellent review Andy. Why not have a chipper and a sand wedge in this style of club? Chipper for the short chips/bump and run type shots and the smart sole sand wedge for getting out of and over bunkers. It still leaves you with a standard pitching wedge and gap wedge for those distance shots, whereas these 2 clubs would cover you from about 70 yards in.

  8. Mark Evans says:

Three ads in the same short video are you kidding me. I really like your channel but I think I’m going to stop watching. I know for you this is about money but for me it’s not.

  9. The smart sole wedges are definitely better than the chipper because of their versatility. You can get fairly creative with the Cleveland wedge vs the ping chipr.

  10. M James says:

Don’t quite understand why you choose to compare a chipper and a wedge rather than two chippers. Reduced the info I was looking for as I am looking at chippers only. The Cleveland C grind already has more loft than the Ping . My 2 cents

  11. I have the Cleveland C, S, and G wedge. Downfall from them is you can’t get back spin when using them. That’s one reason why I don’t use them anymore.

  12. I’m absolutely with you the Ping ChipR. That upright lie angle just helps keep the shot on target more than a regular wedge or 9 iron. It’s far more versatile than we’d give it credit for and I’ve taken to using it from shallow bunkers. Would be interested in whether a higher lofted version would be better or not. Happy for now though.

  13. If they ever allow a 15th club in the bag, it should have to be a chipper.

  14. Phil Rice says:

    Great video nice one Andy

  15. Great information.. Where can I get that hat?

  16. 19jc80 says:

I'm convinced if a person just used the one club from 75 yards in for almost everything it would help them get it dialed in.

  17. My hardest part of golf is from 200 yards to 20 yards from the flag.

  18. jon Q says:

I had a really difficult time getting along with the Cleveland chipper, so I'm selling it and trying out an older used Ping maroon dot gap wedge, maroon dot for ping is bent 5 degrees upright which is pretty close to my putter lie angle, so it's an experiment. It feels really good hitting into my net at home, so time will tell. It's got the loft to pop it up and land it soft and if I lean the shaft I can take loft off of it if I want it to run.

  19. Ron Ito says:

I bought the Ping ChipR even though I am a pretty good chipper. My set was 44, 50, 54, and 58. Now it is 44, 50, 56 and ChipR. The 56 is my SW / LW. and I feel comfortable hitting over bunkers and out of rough with it. The ChipR is for around the greens and hitting bump and run shots with a lot of green to work with. I can still use my 50 for chipping too if I need a bit more loft. The reason it like the ChipR is because of the upright lie angle, shorter length and heavier weight. I think its made my bag more versatile.

  20. Barry Cole says:

I just got the ping chipr, reason i went for that over the cleveland is it can be used easier from 100 yards, in the vid you had the same initial impression as me, that the chipr woulnt be any good from range, but it is so good as long as you dont have obstacles, but i would use a sand wedge there anyway. of course its main use is round the green where in testing vs lob wedge, sand wedge, 8 iron bumps etc the chipr won in my tests by miles. I had a space in my bag so made sense. I play off 8.

  21. When are you bagging the chipr?

  22. Words of wisdom for sure. Good job Andy. I carry a Adams Chipper at 37 degrees. Its great also. If we can add a club that helps our game why not do it???? I also carry a 45 degree square strike. Enough said !!!!

  23. inside out says:

I played with a guy who hit his chipper off the tee on a 138yard par 3 and missed a hole in one by inches he uses it everywhere even the sand.

  24. I truly appreciate your average golfer concept. Compared to some other youtubers, I can relate more to your content. I really like the smartsoles from Cleveland. I seriously think I might change my CBX2 for the Smartsoles…

  25. So what club do you take out?

  26. Ski 350 says:

I’ve now used my Cleveland chipper for Four rounds and can honestly say this has been the most impactful club I’ve ever gamed. Use a putting stroke and it’s hard to hit a bad shot with it.

  27. I order Pingr and I’m might put in the bag the Cleveland wedge also good video

  28. Kevin Thorp says:

Ordered one of the ping Chipr this week from my club pro shop. I’ve been trying an Odyssey chipper but find it ugly and have to hit it harder than my milled face putter so looking forward to the more iron face of the chipr. Oh and I play off a handicap index of 4.9 I’ll try anything if it could lower my scores 100% a chipper does that.

  29. O No says:

I replaced my 7 iron with a 7 hybrid and found this to be my go-to club for chipping around the green. The hybrid head easily glides through the turf and doesn't catch.
