I like the joggers what brand are they

  2. Van Gorder says:

I have often said, that we dont realize it, but we are/were in the golden age of disc golf and with the money ithat has moved into the sport, that time is passing. This was a sport for outsiders, hippy types and individualists; something embraced by common people, not high level athletes. With dedication, normal people could have a resonable chance of success. With money will come high level athletes, subscriptions to watch, charges to view tournaments, maybe even jomez changing….wait, we are already there.

  3. if they move it back or make you pay I’m just not gonna watch

  4. I think, as you suggested, adding post production behind the pay wall is coming. Perhaps it's as soon as today behind the pay wall, but free is a week or a month, or whatever, later. I don't subscribe to DGPT now because I don't want to watch live and they don't offer anything else. I miss a few tournaments because they don't show the post production until the results have been out so long, the surprise of who wins is ruined. The best thing about live sports is you don't know who wins. Once that's out of the bag, I feel most people are not looking to tune in as much. Thus, putting the live and fast post production behind the pay wall gives viewers the most incentive to subscribe.

The money for the tour and for the player winnings has to come from somewhere, and until live broadcasts are remotely close to our major sports, subscriptions is likely the best means of funding that for the near future.

I haven't seen live coverage since they started, but until they are showing continuous action like ball golf, flipping from group to group to group, it's just painful to watch. Sitting on your couch watching a foursome wait on the tee box is agonizing.

  5. Ville Ilonen says:

I don't have a problem with paying for a high quality post produced coverage in the future If that's whats happening at some point, but getting rid of post produced coverage all together would be devastating for disc golf and it's growth. For one thing, I live in Finland & so does a lot other disc golf fanatics. And it would be very difficult to watch everything live because of the different Time Zones. And another thing is that not everyone (including me) have the time or want to watch 4 to 5 hours of live everyday. And another thing is that having ppc on YouTube brings more knowledge about disc golf to people who have never seen it before. Having said that, highlights don't work for most people either because then you will miss too much of the drama and cool shots. That's my opinion on this.

  6. Bryce Rogers says:

I'll have to disagree on the Silver series coverage. I know this year DeLa wasn't a silver series, but Central Coast put together a top-3 best post produced tournament this year. Fantastic camera work and exceptional commentary. All-around entertaining AND not long and drawn-out. I think Discgolfguy has been upping his game a lot as well. The competition is good for the sport, and DGPT/JMP should recognize that if they know what's good for them.
That said, I think you're on point with what you're saying in this video. Jomez should take a page out of your book. Editing and timing is key. They need to be engaged as commentators, and be able to tune back in to the play-by-play.

  7. Ed Hager says:

I started out watching Central Coast when Ian would have one of the players from the tournament and often the round being covered to do commentary. Loved it! I enjoyed hearing about the course and the tournament play from someone out there doing it. I actually stopped watching Central Coast when Ian started having his camera guy on instead of a golfer. It wasn't as interesting to me. Plus Jomez was taking off and I really liked listening to Jeremy and Nate because same thing, they had just played a round in the tournament. The little live (free) coverage that I've watched, the commentary has not inspired me to subscribe.

  8. Change is sometimes good and sometimes bad. When you take a creative entity like Jomezpro, which has basically been like NPR (supported in part by the listeners), then you take away Patreon support and give the creator tons of money, it becomes just another corporate controlled cog in a wheel. Jomezpro was the heart of the healthy growth of the best parts of the sport through the pandemic and this "acquisition" represents a watering down of the accessibility, fun and creativity they brought to the sport. The only positive is that they might make the PDGA a little bit better and more interesting. The huge negative is that the PDGA will certainly make Jomezpro worse…oh and pay per view is garbage…especially for this sport above all others.

  9. The thing to keep in mind is that these changes will occur year-to-year, as the disc golf pro tour season is essentially mid-February to mid-October. So don't expect anything to shift until the off-season. They'll try changes for a year, see how it goes, learn lessons, and make changes for the following year. From things like the graphics, display, music, types of bonus coverage, commentary teams, etc.

  10. The commentary bugs me as well. If you watch a pga event theres a lot of room to talk before they hit their shot. In pdga, these throws need time to fly and talked afterwards.

  11. I know one thing this buyout means: I have a little more Patreon money to throw around, because I support independent creators, not corporate subsidiaries. Jomez is awesome, but they're not indie no more.

  12. I believe SpinTV is owned by Jussi, a couple years back they covered part of the European swing of the tour but it was actually Jussi paying Jomez to do the filming.

  13. Steven says:

    Goodness, slow dowwwwwn your talking

  14. Zac Crenshaw says:

Question of the day – Who is your team in the premier league? I am a huge premier league fan!

  15. I appreciate the depth of thought you put into your videos/commentary

  16. Aaron DeBoer says:

I think this will be beneficial in the end. Look at any other sport. If we want to grow to where they are and attract new players, what makes more sense. Watching a tournament from DGPT/PDGA or some guy with a YouTube channel name "JomezPro". Don't get me wrong I love jomez and everything they've done, I just think coverage will now be "name brand" and easier to find for new watchers.

  17. Wes Warren says:

I was shooting -10 to -12 at birds nest. -8 was my best at pagosa springs

  18. If John coming over means Nate Doss will be a better commentator, I'm all for it. I am mentally exhausted by the end of a broadcast because of how emphatic he says literally everything. Always stressful and everything is a must make to him

  19. stuart hayes says:

Really hoping they keep the practice rounds free

  20. Mike Handte says:

The merger happened because jomez couldn't make the full payment their was payments made but with the loss of their co founder they knew they needed someone else that's why Jeff acquired them
