What the actual fuck are you talking about. The threetooled fd2 is renowned as the best 7 speed ever made

  2. Zuya Isna says:

I wanted the FD1 and held it in my hands this weekend, but honestly my beat in FD sorta made me lose interest. I don't know, I lost my FD last summer in the woods in tall grass for like 3+ weeks. Someone found it and gave it back, and idk if being out in the sun for that long would affect flight? But it sucked a** after I got it back. The glide was nowhere to be seen, and it would burn over sometimes. IDK, I'm just rambling on, but imma get both FD and FD1 this weekend and see if my love for them comes back. Because I need a solid 7 speed disc.

  3. Rick Sanchez says:

Great little history segment as well as the review. This video seemed very natural and organic. Well done my friend

  4. Anyone who asks me what the FD1 is like, I tell them, Brinster teebird. Really glad to see someone finally show the comparison!

  5. Claw Shooter says:

I have some bad news I bought a new teebird 3 yesterday, and they have been retooled. I've bagged 3 for years, and went to Hazy Shade and noticed the new 3 molds are domey, and the innova manufacturer fonts on the bottom of the disc are different.
I bought a max weight star teebird3 and flipped over in zero wind. I still have last years Barela teebird. I had my 980 rated friend throw it flat and it was flying like a sidewinder

  6. Mike Newton says:

I’ve been using the fd1 as a compliment to my teebirds. I’ve noticed with my champ teebird that if I throw it on anhyzer it’s gonna hold for a bit then pan out and land flat. The fd1 will just get to flat then start fading.

  7. The Ching Bomb is the Teebird.

  8. Gil Gorham says:

how about DM perfected the Teebird?

  9. ironman6262 says:

Digging the in-depth analysis! I have a Teebird and Instinct that fly noticeably different as you said, but I could never figure out why, because they are almost identical with very close to the same PLH height. Never thought about the rounded edge. Glad to come across this and keep it in mind while comparing discs. Flight physics are fun 🙂

  10. Funk Gremlin says:

Is it flat top or kinda domey?

  11. BabyChuChu says:

Still watching this video, but gotta say. Please match your resolution to what will be displayed for YouTube. Adding any letterboxing to your video does nothing cinematic when most people watch your videos are watching them vertically on a cell phone. Now all I think about are those black bars.

  12. Casey smith says:

The mold I have for this shot is a Discraft Z Stalker. I love the mold has that fairway size rim in a midrange feel to the disc, it flies like no other, straight for the entire flight with high fade at the end that still pushes forward.

  13. Kevin Kostka says:

I'm not sure the Forge Instincts were actually more OS. Mine was about the same as my lightly beat-in one when it was brand new. Maybe they were variable in that plastic?

  14. Casey smith says:

I would ask for a Sonic or Hero disc of same mold top with a midrange bottom of several small similar diameter molds see what type of disc we could get that would work as a very high glide midrange approach shot disc.

  15. Great video! Love the history. You sold me. I still have a stack of maybe four brinsters… freaking can’t wait to get a couple of these fd1s to compare.

  16. Chrys R says:

So, what you are saying is…that new FD1 is more overstable than a Teebird and has less glide, so not the same as a Teebird.

  17. Art on Rye says:

I might have to try these out. I'm into Eagles and Votums right now but it's fun to compare similar discs. Speaking of, I'm really curious what you think about the Vela from Millennium.

  18. The Innova-made C-Line FD2 I've thrown was practically identical to my Champion TeeBird. The one I've seen that my friend has flies just like one. I think it's the 2019 run. It's domey and beefy.

  19. Chris Rhome says:

The 2nd Retool of the FD2 was an Eagle. From what I've heard they were trying to recreate the famous 2nd Run FD with the 3rd tooling. They were very flat and considerably more stable than the FD was supposed to be. Soooooo they seem to have gotten it right with the 3rd tool FD2. Which Eagle still bags and claims is a Unicorn disc that he can't replace. There was a run of Swirly S-Line FDs from 2019 that are very flat like the infamous 2nd run. I've never thrown the 2nd Run, but I do have a 2019 Swirly Run and everyone that has thrown it says that it's more stable than they expect. Very flat, and some of them are Champ/Star blend.

  20. Hidden Leaf says:

I was just noticing yesterday that 2 years ago I didn’t throw any DM discs. Now that they are pumping out their own molds with their own plastics I’ve got 4 DM discs. If they keep on this train of getting back their classic molds and releasing them in C & S Line I think DM will be a top selling disc golf company in a couple more years. Once the Tactic, all their CD, PD and DD discs are out in stock C & S Line it’s over.

  21. SIRHC1234 says:

The best is the 3 tooled FD2. Gets a little flip brand new, still finishes left, and a really flat top. The FD1 is a great compliment to the 3 tooled

  22. Trev says:

While I understand that being an Innova contract brand was the barrier to an optimized design, I think it's disingenuous to frame the video as Innova holding back Discmania. "We need to copy an Innova disc" is a DM problem, not an Innova problem.

  23. Bryce Rogers says:

I bag the neo Instinct for that slot.
Used to bag a teebird, and I can honestly say nothing flies like a Teebird… with that said, I love my instinct because it consolidates that shot really well. In other words, it’s more reliable at doing one thing exceptionally well, instead of being a little more versatile like the Teebird. To complement it, I throw a JLS for straight shots. Disc up to a Proton Volt for a longer shot with fade.

  24. Connor M says:

Great video my dude. For future reference, Forge instincts came out like a beat in neo out the box. They are quite a bit more understandable compared to the other instincts. I bagged a forge Neo and meta and now that the fd/fd1 line is a little more polished I’ve switched up to that line of disc. But, when it comes to instincts, those forge ones are a much different animal compared to a new Neo and especially against a meta. Also (and I’m not positive here but I had a conversation with a guy last week that claimed to have them all) apparently the fd2 went through 5 different retoolings 😳 crazy

  25. tldr2yLeader says:

Sounds great, I'll just keep throwing teebirds lol

  26. Akkadian says:

Nice review! Instinct definitely has different uses than the teebird imo. I was using a lux instinct in the "FD slot" until they released the new FD. I also bag the Teebird3 and love it.

  27. Krpi says:

One of the old FD2 molds was magic. But maybe for the wrong reasons.
Now, I'm not sure if the FD2 I'm talking about was the original or the second mold (though I'm leaning towards the former). However, for a 7 speed it was really flat and shallow. Very overstable to start with, horrible glide. Perfectly forehandable, took power, handled wind but settled down way better than the higher speed OS utility discs. After a good bit of seasoning you could trust it with point-and-shoot duties. Still didn't want to turn over. Felt fairly unique for a 7 speed.

So as I see it, Discmania's big problem was them trying to force that mold into the FD-line. They missed out on a chance to take charge of that rather rare slot in players' bags that the old FD2 could've filled.
I did try some of the later FD2 versions. They were… ok. Serviceable but offered nothing to be excited about.

I hope this new FD1 has some of that old FD2 magic in it. Or that the future FD2 will.

  28. 1andonlyMiro says:

Man, could you be the one to finally give a review about the Lat64 Striker? They have some Opto-Ice ones in stock. Gold ones are imo the best, the Ice ones are really close tho. I don't care too much about Opto ones for some reason.

  29. G says:

Forged is generally less stable than the neo instincts
