I SAY SIGN "YADI" TO A 2 GAME CONTRACT, TO PITCH ONLY TO WAINO!! WE NEED TO GET HIM 200 WINS!! LOVE WAINO, AND DON'T WANT TO SEE HIM GO WITHOUT GETTING 200 WINS!!

  2. Josh B. says:

THERE'S A REASON CHARLIE HASN'T COMMENTED ON ANYTHING IN A FEW DAYS!! WHAT'S THEIR TOO TALK ABOUT?? "NOTHING"!! THIS SEASONS OVER!! AS I WANT WAINO TOO GET HIS 200 WINS AS A CARDINAL, ITS DREADFUL WATCHING!! IF HE WOULDN'T GIVE UP 5 RUNS BEFORE THE 3RD INNING HE'D BE IN LINE FOR A WIN!! IF MO THINKS OUR #1 GOING INTO 2024 IS MIKOLAS, WELL WE GOT ISSUES!! IF MO DOESN'T SIGN A FREE AGENT BETTER THAN MIKOLAS TOO BE OUR #1 NEXT YEAR, I WON'T BE BUYING TICKETS NEXT SEASON!!

  3. The cardinals need quality pitching not prospects

  4. The cardinals already have good prospects before the trades what’s the need for more prospects

  5. Michael S. says:

    “Coach iPad” LOL

  6. Mike Keeler says:

Sign a couple of Major League starters in the offseason

  7. Mike Keeler says:

What's the rotation going to be for the rest of this year since they did not pick up a starter

  8. Drew P Balls says:

We have to spend some money this off season for pitching.

  9. rdmkeytohwy says:

It is still early to assess all of the new players acquired but I think what Mo and the staff has done addresses our main concern and flaw which is quality pitchers. Some of these guys have a pretty good upside. We were not going to get veterans for the players we traded. Young talent is good. We have a good nucleus of young talent with our position players so this addresses the pitching side. It actually makes sense. Now, we have to develop them into big-leaguers and do it pretty quickly. This is where our organization has been week and that comes back to coaching. We have to hold the minor league coaches and major league coaches accountable for what has happened. The results are not there. So get somebody who can get results. I have a feeling that Coach IPad ain’t it.

  10. Front office did what they had to do and got back some good prospects. Overall an excellent job in a bad season. Now I want to see Mr winn

  11. They got pretty much what I believed they would get…..nothing.

  12. The Cardinals did a very solid to excellent job in attaining players in return for players on expiring contracts. That being said, none of the pitchers they acquired are going to make them contenders in 2024. Unless the Cardinals step up and acquire at least 2 top of the line starting pitchers, a closer and one or two very strong set up men, 2024 will be a rebuilding year. I personally don't have a problem with 2024 being a rebuilding season as long as it is presented that way by Cardinals' management.

  13. Troy T says:

They got about as much as they could. The thing that's bothersome is that players entering free agency aren't even interested in a early deal with the Cardinals. Management???

  14. If Libby actually said that about his start against the Yanks (keeping his fastball at 89 mph), it is indicative of the stupidity of the organization at the farm system.

  15. Josh B. says:

AFTER THE TRADE DEADLINE, DONT EXPECT THE CARDINALS TO HAVE EVEN CLOSE TO A GOOD STARTING PITCHING STAFF FOR 2024!!!

  16. Mo screwed us again, the pitchers we got will be out of baseball in 3 years except klopenstein and only prieto was a good deal Robbe and the other pitchers are no better than Liberatore,Mo must be f fired and take his brown nose Oli with him

  17. Josh B. says:

GET READY FOR ANOTHER 2024 SEASON OF A UNDERWHELMING PERFORMANCE OF STARTING PITCHING!! CUZ MO WONT GET SH## FOR STARTING PITCHING NEXT SEASON!! I SEE NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES FOR OUR STARTING PITCHING FOR 2024!! I'M TIRED OF BITC##NG BUT THE CARDINALS HAVE NEVER " EVER" HAD A SOLID STARTING 5!! PITCHING WISE!! WE HAVE A POWERFUL BATTING LINEUP, BUT OUR CURRENT STARTERS GIVE UP MORE RUNS THAN WE CAN ENDURE!!

  18. Tom Wagner says:

Card fans need to stop buying tickets. Trading their whole team to pad profit margins. I hate professional sports. All money driven

  19. David Cobler says:

Hey Bernie; The first time I heard you was 2005. I’ve been a fan ever since because you tell it like you see it! We live in a backward society where the truth or logical, reasonable sound opinions of matters is swept under the rug! It’s a shallow world. It takes courage to speak up and say what you see that may be contrary or against all the powers of MLB and the fake media and your constituents who are on the airwaves and in the papers. But Bernie; I’m proud of you! You have not changed one bit since I first heard you in 2005! You can be trusted! And their are FEW in your class! GOD BLESS YOU!!

  20. Unbelievable we didn’t get Civale. The Rays were genius.

  21. Ray Imai says:

Trade Dylan Carlson, and Jack flaherty to the Giants for Thairo Ramos, Heliot Ramos, joey Bart and rookie pitcher Walker. Bring in Yadi to school Bart. Trade Contreras for pitching and still save mone

  22. Delt257 says:

What is with this infatuation with trading with Toronto through the years? Do you really think fans are going to believe that the Bluejays are always offering us the best return? Statistically impossible.

  23. I'm actually pretty stoked that Matz has been solid the last few outings. I don't think he should be written off.

  24. Josh B. says:

So we traded Paul for ANOTHER PROSPECT!!! SO MO SAID WE ARE TRADING FOR THE FUTURE!!! He said we're trading for our future, but so far nothing hes traded for will help our team in 2024!! So what's up Mo???

  25. So DeJong goes to the Blue Jays also for nothing! Mo is fucking up this deadline quick!

  26. Happy for Paul and encouraged that we got a hoss.

  27. LOVE IT: THE ALL STAR GAME IS A JOKE! I also believe that somewhere along the line the Cards decided to leave the strategy long followed: DRAFT AND DEVELOP PITCHERS FIRST, DEVELOP TALENT AT OTHER POSITIONS, AND SIGN STARS WHO ARE LIKELY TO PLAY KEY STAR ROLES (Colorado really helped us, as did Oakland and Arizona. What is the part that failed? WE QUIT DEVELOPING PITCHING TALENT. Most have not failed because of injuries. Either (I do not know which or if both) we have drafted the wrong potential major league pitcher prospects or we have failed to develop pitching prospects. I would argue that Libby was never really major league ready when the Cards did bring him up. Outside of pitching, I question MO’s judgment (or his people) on several organizational aspects. Obviously that team keeps a close eye on the minors; yet, with the significant probability that Jordan Walker would be brought up to the big club, where we had a Hall of Fame certain 3rd baseman, THEY NEVER MOVED WALKER TO HIS TRUE POTENTIAL MAJOR LEAGUE POSITION UNTIL ALMOST YEAR’S END! I know Albert and Yadi were there, but they also really never gave him a post minor-league season look at the majors. YET, they brought him up, put him (not in left field, an easier position, and yes, I know Walker has a strong throwing arm….BUT NO EXPERIENCE EVER in the outfield). THEY SET HIM UP FOR FAILURE. If launch angle was a problem, THEY HAD TO KNOW! THEY MADE HIM A GUY TO BE RESENTED by keeping 5 outfielders and utility guys to compete for greatly limited playing time. EVERY JUDGMENT WAS AMATEURISH (NO, STUPID). Two things have caused this incredibly poor year: the decision made by Adam W to pitch in the CLASSIC (if he had gotten into good physical shape and use won an average number of his starts for the first 6 months, we would have been competitive) and the utter stupidity of the strategic plan for using Walker combined with too many outfielders kept in the mix. GET OFF YOU OVER-THINKING ASS AND DECIDE BEFORE APRIL !, 2023 whether to trade your ever-injured left fielder or the prospect with no real position (first base eventually) and one of the trio (Nootbar, or his witch-hitting alter ego with great talent. I don’t care which, as you got to take risks to get the one thinks you had to know you did not have: ADEQUATE PITCHING. FANS are often wrong, but when every analyst, every service, every fan cried: WE NEED PITCHING, you had to know. YOU DID NOTHING. Maybe the owner was not ready to invest. O.K. It is up to you to find out how to get it don. I know if you had asked me if I was willing to pay $2 per ticket for a truly great pitcher, I would have not blinked! ASK! TAKE A POLE. WE KNOW YOU DO’T HVE THE STUPIT MONENY OF SAN DIEGO, THE DOGERS, or the METS. BUT DO BETTER WITH WHAT YOU Have!

  28. Bo Schlosser says:

    Just traded Dejong to Toronto!

  29. CHARLIE! I am yelling! YOU CANNOT BLAME THE MAJOR LEAGUE PITCHING COACH GENERALLY. I think he did HELP young pitchers. The Cards managed to win with lower talent guys. HE DID, along with the greatest defensive catcher in modern history, provide the best pitching he could with the talent the system developed. YOUR POINT, PROPERLY MADE, IS ACCURATE: THE CARDS HAVE FAILED FOR QUITE SOME TIME TO DRAFT AND DEVELOP PITCHING TALENT.

  30. As to minor league talent, I think you see this in all the prospects. That last step before success is, at least at times, crazy hard. Sadly few make it, but a few (fewer) do. I am not sure Libby will make it. I still think some of the college guys they signed last year have some ability to surprise. The kid form Oregon was lights out in college (I know, a long way from getting major league hitters out), and he had an unusual release point that seemed to make it harder on hitters. You do hit on the factor that makes me the most nervous: WE SEEM TO LACK THE MAGIC OF A GREAT HITTING COACH. IU wonder if the Cards could take a look at a guy likely retired from his step down from Triple A for the hitting coach for the great hitters of the era of the Minnesota Twins. (Yea, he is that old, likely nearing 60). His kids are raised now. He might be willing to return. NO ONE WORKED HARDER ON DEVELOPING HITTERS SUCCESSFULLY! He is just an example. THEY NEED PITCHER WHISPERERS and HITTER GURUS. Whatever they are doing is suddenly failing. Who else besides major league pitching coaches (our last two, both of whom, along with Yadi, made miracles happen…I still remember Duncan and 2006 when he alone got magic out of guys who had a few shining moments in that one chase for the Crown! Yes, Tony was Hall of Fame, but he could never have done it without Duncan. Until Bud Black tried to be a head coach, making money but wasting his greatest skill…pitching coach, he was pitcher guru delux. Combo of Black and a former Dodger catcher as manager, the Angels won their only World Series title! Mo moved to the point of thinking you can win by computing power. COMPUTERS DO NOT WIN; TALENT WELL DEVELOPED WINS! It really is simple. All those people Geeks began teaching and practicing in corporate America. YOU STILL GOT TO KNOW THE GAME AND HOW TO PROPERLY USE THE DATA ANALYSIS YOU GET FROMT THE GEEKS. Mo and the manager and the lower level coaches have not been succeeding in the evaluations and the eyes-on judgment needed. Look, you can spend stupid money like the Angels and the Padre GM, or you can have the intuition and save of Whitey Herzog and the judgment and control of Tony LaRussa, BUT THE YOU WILL NOT WIN WITH COMPUTERS COMBINED WITH A LACK OF GOOD HUMAN JUDGMENT! If not, computers would rule the world.

  31. Josh B. says:

They got prospects which wont help next season!! If Mo doesn't acquire a starting pitcher today I'll be "FUMING"!! Because the Cardinals have never been a team to acquire great starters via free agency!!

  32. Question for Cardinal fans, besides the Cubs who’s your least favorite team? Red Sox? Giants? Other?

  33. My initial thought was the same as a guy much better qualified than I am, Chris Carpenter was going through arm surgery during a time when the outcome was even more unpredictable than today. Deadline trades are times to take risks, especially if you are going to still try to resign one or two in free agency. You get potential and you still have the same opportunity: sign a guy you know for what you think he is worth to you (or more than you want to, if you really needthem…Jack F and Nolan Hicks. The Cards tried; they know you want them. Will you compete with other teams to keep them? It all comes back to that, Mr. Owner!

  34. I’m hoping we get 1 or 2 quality pitchers when the season is over.

  35. Spikd says:

I have less than zero confidence in this team to develop pitching

  36. Knighthawk says:

Would love to see hicks and Monty back in FA. I don’t think that’s super high of a chance. I remember y’all saying Monty’s wife had a business that she moved to STL, do y’all think that’s something Monty will
    Consider coke FA ?

  37. Steve M says:

I wouldn't count on King or Roby at all. I look at the TX deal as Monty & Stratton for an IF. Of course Mo couldn't land Kumar Rocker. What were we thinking?

Probably wake up tmrw minus 2 starters and 2 bullpen arms, and a monumental retool project on the table of the think tank who got us to this point to begin with.

  38. I think StL has to rebuild the organizations substructure in terms of talent identification, acquisition, and development. They have really gotten the $h!+ end of the stick for several years now for dumbass moves. Learn to be less egotistical as an organization. I really do think that this season will have been a blessing in disguise down the road. I would like to imagine Mo and BD2 having serious introspection about some of the dumbass things they've done over the years, like… trading Zac Gallen.
